sorry i forgot some more dastedly deeds of busses here in Sydney... they have a special give way sign on the back which gives them the right to run you off the road whenever they feel like it. A couple of times i have seen buses pull out in front of ambulences on an emergency! It's the same way in Seattle, WA; they don't even bother looking before merging, and why should they when they are legally immune to the consequences. Un-damn

Damn, I was having fun reading this thread, then someone had to bring up driving. Now I feel a rant of my own boiling in my stomach. Rant: When the fork did people start thinking of a driver's license as a RIGHT rather than the PRIVILEGE it is. And what the hell is with the lop-sided age restrictions. For good reasons we have age restrictions on how old you must be before you can begin driving; why is it so wrong to apply this same reasoning and advocate age restrictions on

My take on trade routes may not be as well thought out as the rest of yours but it works for me, so here is my humble little bit: Most of the value I place on trade routes is directly related to the Eyes of the Universe 'wonder'. I find the intel my freighters are able to provide with their uber-sensors is far more valuable to me than the income they generate.

I've been interested in this game for a while, but one thing has kept me from grabbing off the shelf. So I have to ask this question: Can I now get a HARD COPY w/o that Starforce rootkit, or copy protection, or whatever they want call that garbage?

Also having the same problem. I have sent the indicated login.txt file to the e-mail address supplied by T-Man. Good luck T-Man, hope you can find the glitch in short order; and thanks in advance for your efforts.

I don't know what Frogboy has said on this, but will there be options to carry out a variety espionage missions? For example, will we be able to focus efforts on tech stealing, sabotage, or inciting dissent?

In my experience, tech trading with minor races is a great strategy in the short game, but in the long haul I find I out-pace them in research to such an extent that they become useless as trading partners. For my purposes, I like to keep them around long enough for them to build at least two capitals before I annex them; you can only build one of each capital yourself, but there is no rule against "liberating" multiple caps from other races.

No this helps races with crappy engines, it makes all constructors speed 5 no matter what they have. Is this "working as intended"? Frogboy? If so the language of the bill should be changed; not just changing "minimun" to "maximum", but changing the expressed intent of the bill; something along the

Definitely sounds like a bug, but I don't know; that resolution has not passed once in any of the games I've played. I assumed that this res. was designed to totally screw races that haven't researched enough engine techs (don't have the engines, can't build constructors). For those in the know, am I correct in this assumption?

Call me crazy, but I am beginning to suspect that these kinds of posts are being made by people who work for a company(ies) that is not at all happy with the amazing success a small dev has had selling a game with ZERO copy protection. Can there really be that many PC users out there who have no idea what BETA means? Maybe, but I am still suspicious.

Not speaking about any specific game in particular, but if the only way a game can increase its difficulty level is by creating an inequitable shift of the rules in favor of the computer, then that is not what we should call "artificial intelligence". Perhaps we should adopt the term "artificial opponent"; that would be more accurate than describing a cheating enemy as "intelligent". Again, still NOT speaking about any game in particular.

to counteract the large bonuses and benefits you get from choosing the evil events in the first place. Not to mention the starbase bonuses etc. that come with it. I hadn't considered that at first (not having played "Evil" yet), but looking at it from the perspective of game balance I have to admit t

The UP do put a lot of restriction on doing evil things or generally being evil. That really needs to change. I'd rather see something that takes into account the majority alignment (Good, Neutral, Evil) in the galaxy and adjusts this event accordingly. For instance if the majority of Civ

wish i could demand they move them out of my territory grrr I think this would make for a nice UP resolution; something like a 5 year restriced "air space" with the opportunity to pay a "right of passage" fee to travel through another's territory. But already I can see a major drawback: how pissed would you be if an AI's influence s

So far the differences have been consistant, but just like you say, luck is what it is. Even if I played several hundred games I most likely would not see empirical results. Then again, we are talking about code and percentages, not real life luck; I should think a definable pattern would be visible at some point sooner than several hundred games.

My third one since updating the game. Drivers are up to date too. So, which part of the debug file do the folks need to see, cuz it's rather large.

Thanks for the link, Luminae. Ugh, I have one of those games (Silent Storm); and there is one on that list that I want to get once (if) there is a US release (The Fall: Last Days of Gaia), but the more I hear about this Starforce the less likely I am to buy it if it ships with that c.p.. Looks like it'll be bargin bin and Stardock games for me from now on.

I'm not as hip to this copy protection crap as most gamers appear to be, how new is this Starforce thing? Does someone have a link listing which games use this brand of c.p.? I doubrt I have any games using this (my pc is out of date so I can't play a lot of the newer games), but I want to avoid supporting that sort of business model when I buy games in the future. What motivated me to get GalCiv II wasn't the no c.p. thing but something I saw on this site that I haven't seen in at

Reloading does not work in my case. I also am not the one with the cheesy sphere of influence, it's one of the enemy A.I. dudes. They were taking over another enemy A.I.'s planets and everything seemed normal until they took over the planet of a minor race (Snathi) and had an instant influence explosion. I can see the planet's pop. & approval rating (which are "normal") but do not have a high enough level of intel to be able to see what improvements are on the planet, which is why I asked if
