Indeed, to me, the simplest solution, if one is concerned enough with the copy protection (which in certain cases is entirely reasonable), is to buy the game and then get the pirated version.

No mods installed? New display drivers? Anything of the sort? What has troubled me from the very beginning is that when a frigate is destroyed, it disappears first and the explosion occurs half a second later. Makes me sad. That, and the fact that the ships just stand still while blasting away. Ed: better language, hopefully.
