Norton has devolved into one of those clunky, overreaching umbrella application suites. It's so bloated and autonomous that in my opinion it's giving people a false sense of security; when an app by its very functioning consumes so many CPU cycles and system resources and so severely intrudes upon the user's day-to-day activity, the natural reaction is to shut it down, in part or in full, so you can function.
