And I'm also having the phantom taskbar button issue as well.

Well what seems to be the whole problem is that the pane in start8 is called recently used apps, whereas the pane in Windows 7 was called Most Frequently used apps. That's where the difference comes in.
[quote who="Neil Banfield" reply="4" id="3328361"] Quoting RVoll, reply 3 After a bit of research, I understand this limitation is within Windows 8. Metro apps can only be multitasked with one other Metro app if they share the same screen. When you window a Metro app, Windows 8 prevents it from running concurrent with the desktop. This limits ModernMix as you cannot run apps like Netflix and multitask with the desktop. We are looking into removin
Thanks!
Just went to re-install today and got this when I tried to activate start8. My ticket ID is QHK-937-93815 Thanks.
Okay, thank you Neil.
BTW this bug still exists in the beta 3 update.
64 bit, didn't know anyone still used 32 :P
Just discovered another bug with this beta relating to hot corners. If you disable hot corners and then open the network/wireless flyout (click the network icon in the taskbar) you cannot close the flyout by clicking on the desktop or anything else. The only way to close it is to click the start button. Is this fixed or on the table to be fixed? Thank you.
On one hand I see this as a good idea, on the other hand I don't because all of the crazies will make stupid looking skins for it lol.
Is your windows key disabled via a hardware button or through the software? If it's software maybe it's botching up and sending the key press signal instead? Sorry I can't remember if the G keyboards have hardware switches.
I'm using start8 on a domain machine as well and I'm not seeing any issues with it.
Oh that's awesome news. With the current beta i keep doing that key combo and then looking at the screen like WTF isn't it working lol
Glad to hear this will be fixed in the next update :)
Neil, I believe he's talking about supporting ctrl + shift + enter from the search box to run things like CMD elevated with a simple key combo like could be done in windows 7, and can also be done via the start screen in Windows 8.
Just a small bug I noticed, but when you enable the downloads folder as a link in the right pane, it automatically enables Recorded TV, and this cannot be disabled unless you uncheck downloads which gets rid of both again. I also noticed that the start menu does not size based on the links on the right side, after a while the links will run off the bottom unless you enable more icons on the MFU panel.
When will the next beta be out?
I actually just noticed that the search box doesn't support regular paths either, like C:\Windows etc... So add this to the list :)
Hello, Been using the new Start8 beta and I am loving it so far. One thing I just noticed is the search box does not support launching UNC Paths (\\Server\Folder) etc... This support would be greatly appreciated. Another thing that would be nice is if ctrl+shift+enter is supported from the search box, so I can quickly launch a CMD instance as administrator.
