6. but for all of this to work and feel great, animations, effects and graphics need to be top notch with dynamic lighting and shadows, sharp textures, particle effects, volumetric explosions, etc.etc. Basically, you would feel like you are watching Battlestar Galactica
Hello Hortz . I see your obsession with animations hasn't abated at all. [e digicons]:\[/e] </p
Good find - thank you for posting it. That article says in a nutshell why Stardock are so good at what they do. They Take Ownership Good or Bad, they look after their Developers, and predicate Release Dates on finished Games, not selfish Shareholder driven dribble...... ..... and their Gamers love 'em for it.
It helps a lot that Stardock is privately owned (mostly, if not entirely, by Brad).
In my view GC2 went a bit over the top with their importance and it also added lots of unfun micromanagement.I like to see them still in the game but not so vital to every mechanic.
Agreed. Starbases in GalCiv2 are interesting as a concept, and I certainly don't hate them, but I admittedly wasn't wild about the way they were implemented.
How much actual programming have they done? Do they have a working engine? Are they going to make alien races that aren't just anthropomorphized earth animals?
You've been hanging around ghostryder too much. I was just about to start a new thread on this game, but I see igorCRO beat me to it. [e digicons]:)[/e] I already kicked in my pledge. Despite the disappointments most of the 4x games this last year have turned out to be, this one looks like it could be something truly special.
i am just now looking at this game. so i am a big fan of galactic civilizations, Galactic Civilizations II, Master of Orion and Master of Orion II, the total war series, the civilization series and many other games of that genre. I am however not a fan of RTS games, i played them all when i was younger and some more recent additions - command and conquer, dune, total annihilation, supreme commander. They had their mo

seanw3's appalling misunderstanding of geography aside, he does have a point: The animals in your country are frickin' scary! Yes, your women are both attractive and promiscuous (a most excellent combination), but I don't think even that can make up for the fact that most non-sapient creatures down there constantly try to kill you. I much prefer countries where the spiders aren't the size of pickup trucks and slavering venom... <

TNG remains my favorite Star Trek series, with DS9 coming in a very close second. (TOS is a distant third; VOY and ENT barely even register for me.) I agree a lot of the TNG episodes (particularly from the 1st, 2nd, and 7th seasons) don't hold up very well...but then I thought most of the episodes from those three seasons weren't very good in the first place. I'd still rate "Tapestry" and "All Good Things" as being among my top episodes, along with t

It's definitely better with mods (I use the Absolute Enhancement Mod myself), but I wouldn't say it's "pathetic". Of course, you've probably played the game more than I have, so it's entirely possible the vanilla version has long since worn thin for you. [e digicons]B)[/e]

Pretty fun, though, and the space battles are very good IMHO.
You are like me, you want a real time version of a complex 4x game. Sins of a Solar empire would have been my first suggestion, but does not really cover enough.
If I do end up purchasing Crusader Kings 2 (and I'm pretty sure I will in a few months), it will be from GamersGate. That's the only version that doesn't require Steam.
Quoting Emperor_Nero, reply 82It just disappoints me that we have to give up our rights to products that we purchase. Steam blocks you from your entire library if you cheat or anything like that; who is cheating hurting? It isn't like you're stealing anything. As The_Monk already mentioned, punishment for cheating on VAC servers is that if they catch you, you wont be able to play that game on secured multiplayer servers.[/

Like others here, I have not uninstalled Impulse because I don't want to miss any updates to games I've purchased from it in the past. However, I will not be purchasing any more games from it in the future. GamersGate has become my primary DD site now (Steam=evil).
