I'm sure this has been brought up a thousand times before, but I wasn't able to find any recent threads on it. So when *will* we be able to purchase GC2 t-shirts? I'm still itching to get my hands on at least a couple of them (1 Yor and 1 Iconian for sure)! And yes, I know I'm a huge geek.

I think most of the people aren't so much opposed to MP as they are opposed to multiplayer taking precedence over single player in game design. As long as SP remains the focus of the game, MP is harmless enough. Exactly my thoughts, Vinraith . I wouldn't mind at all if GalCiv2 gets multiplayer

....Yet another reason the AI in the Space Empires series isn't so hot. Note: I'm not knocking the SE games. I'm just using them as an example of how a feature-heavy game can make it very difficult to program AI that's decent. GC2 is relatively simpler and more streamlined, which helps make it easier to program AI that's actually competent. Of co

Wow, I didn't antpicipate my original post spawning such silliness! Looks like I did good. Well let's see. GC1 in 2003. GC2 in 2006. At that rate GC3 in 2009. GC4 in 2012. So GC5 in 2015. 9 years from now. Yikes. Brad, you'll practi

There's just the Collectors Edition and the normal version; there is no limited edition. The Collectors Edition comes in a silver box (or metallic DVD-type case if you're in Europe) and includes a fold-out tech tree, additional ship pieces & jewelry to make your ships look pretty, and a couple other "extras" (GC2 desktop, GC2-style skin, etc.). Aside from that, both versions of the game are identical.

I don't know who else said it, but I too had to refresh the page multiple times before I could vote in the poll. I had the original GalCiv and liked it okay. It wasn't my favorite game in the world, but I was very impressed by the continued support Stardock provided. I also knew Brad had mentioned on numerous occasions that he wanted to do a sequel, so I made sure to periodically check in now and then to see if I could catch an announcem

Once a player learns the mechanics of the game, the AI doesn't seem hard to beat. ....Says the man who's won games playing on Suicidal. Just because you can beat the stuffing out of the AI doesn't mean the rest of us can. Yeah, I know there's a number

I don't really care for any weapons like the Terror Star. Waste of good resources blowing up systems left and right. I gotta agree with you there. I personally hate superweapons, and I admit I prefer the Te

That's an awesome photo, Jeysie; I hadn't even seen it before! I love your "treasure hunt" list. Your entries with the missing left socks & "A Kevin Costner movie that *doesn't* suck" actually caused me to laugh out loud (prompting a few strange looks from my co-workers). Congratulations to all the winners! I really do hope Stardock will be m

yeah but you're the almighty BRAD. I'll second that. The Ai could very well still use a lot of improvement, but *Brad* saying the AI loses too easily would be like Emperor Palpatine saying Darth Vader isn't evil enough for his taste. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif"

No change on the log points please. I have to agree with SSG Geezer on this one. Unless you're going to significantly increase the number of points a player gets for each new logistics tech (and in general just re-tweak the whole system), I think all ships should retain the same logistics requirements as they do already. In truth,

I never played the original Stars!, but I was definitely looking forward to its sequel. I too was very disappointed the game became vaporware--it had a lot of potential.

My view on this kind of thing is that games have to evolve over time and good games integrate features from proven successes. Otherwise, the game designer's just being obtuse IMO. I think most of us here would agree with that. It's something that MOO3's designers unfortunately failed to grasp. <br/

So when will Master of Magic be started? To paraphrase what Brad has said in response to that question in other threads: Once they can get more developers hired. Right now, Stardock is fairly limited in terms of personnel, and this obviously hampers their efforts in trying to develop games. At least until recently, th

An interesting read, Brad. I admit I'd never really considered before the dynamics between developers, their games, and the reviewers that can make or break them. It would never have occurred to me that GalCiv 2 might get dinged in reviews simply because some consider Stardock to be an "indie" game developer (although in retrospect I admit it makes sense, even if it's not fair). By the way, which other mega-reviews are left? I thought a

Tycho at Penny Arcade has weighed in on the issue: Link In short, he basically says that while he personally loathes Starforce to the core of his being, he understands that game developers feel the need to protect their investments--even if they often go about it the wrong way.

As long as I have some indicator of what a given action does, I'm not very quibbly over the exact nitty-gritty of it. Yep, same here. I think I mostly fall into the #3 camp, with a dash of #2 thrown in. I like to know approximately what effects X and Y will have on Z, but I don't need to see all the
