I don't understand why one oversight by one country throws the credibility of Kyoto completely out the window? If America makes a mistake can we throw it out the window as some failed project? "I made a bigger mess while trying to clean-up. I guess cleaning-up is a bad idea" - is this the mentality I'm dealing with? The underlining premise of Kyoto - to clean the mess we have made in the past century and to try and prevent global castastr

You are forgetting that driving while drunk is a crime in-and-of itself...no accidents required. But it's only a crime-in-itself because they have made it so - and the whole point is that they are doing this in prevention of accidents. It's not that I approve of driving drunk but just that the argument

Species can and do evolve, but then again there is no explanation where the first organism did come form. And since they can't they can't explain it away, the possibility that a higher power may or may not had a hand in it is still viable.. True - the fact of evolution doesn't make any suggestion to the God

The hell it's not religous based. It's not based on any "named" or "organized" religion that is recognized by the IRS, but it's the same damned thing. It's based on a theory, just as Christianity is based on the theory that Jesus Christ lived and was the son of God. The start of the theory is different, but either way, both requi

Did you personaly witness just how many of them were carring guns? If not, then find something else to talk about. So only US military personal can speak about the war? Then why are any of us here? It's funny how you can accuse people of ignorance and then go on to make such silly comments. - At

People don't simply go, "For no reason whatsoever, I shall believe in God." There's many factors that exist that lead people toward Him. There are many reasons, but which one is the most common and which one is the most noble? An interest question I think. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=cent

One thing we must remember is that nations don't have friends, they have interests. I'd also like to extend this beyond nations to people - "People don't have family or friends, just interests" - Hey, it works!

Why do people desire to take such a beautiful mystery and paint it with their own ugly colors of opinion. If God is the only good explanation at this point in time, it still doesn't make it true, or false, but still a mystery. He was also once the only good reason why the sun was in the sky, and why rain fell and all kinds of basis things that are now common knowledfe. I think people lose something very important when they shun the mystery with th

Yeah, that was the best post I've read in a while. I've never heard the term Jingoist before. but Im uncomfortable with the idea that we should be compelled to act in anything less than our own best interests when it comes to foreign policy I think that it would be in your best interest to cooperate

I appreciate anything that promotes tolerance and compassion among people of the world, but this seems to be some kind of idealistic waxing that doesn't make much sense except to make people feel nice. What if the thing that makes you different stirs violence and conflict among the people who are around you? Is that the problem of the people around you or you? And if Christianity desires to change people to become the same as them, then d

dabe: what's so crazy about the concept of a country wanting to control other countries? Are you so naive as to think this can never happen? You don't think that American not only does, but needs to control other counties? Look around you. Control games happen at ever level of society, it has another name and it's called politics. Parents need to control there children, towns need to control there citizens, countries need to be in control of all o

I think it has more to do with not letting the Church influence politics and for the Government not to promote any particular religion. Personally I believe there should be a religion class for youngsters, but the religious right wing would never allow it. If you start teaching their children all the different types of belief systems in the world and how everyone takes them on faith, then you'll undermine their belief in there own religio

And what is your opinion drmiler? This is a terrible way to ignore a truth. Hitler: "This is just my opinion", Me: "Well I can't argue with you there, Hitler". (Not calling you Hitler, just showing you that you are deceving yourself with that arguement - which isn't actually an arguement.

xr700: Maybe if Bush were a little better at communication he could, you know, get together and discuse, debate, create allies, apply pressure through neighboring countries, be a leader, which means being creative. There is no 'correct' option, but there IS a less violent one.

Then defenend yourself, don't ignore them! But don't go on to tell me that the people all the way over in Iraq are trying to kill you. They are doing what I suggested you should/would do to the question above. Someone has come to their land to kill and take control of them and they MUST defend their own lives on their own land, they have no other choice. The only active decision in this war is on Bush side, everything else is a reaction.

Also I wanted to say that there are ways of securing peace, promoting national and world democracy (don't forget about world democracy - you can't be for one and not the other - without being a contradiction), opposing dictatorships and all the other stuff that Bush talks about, without war. It's as if Bush never even considered any other option before heading straight to war. And he couldn't have came up with a plan of action that fast after 911

Daiwa, nice pyschological analysis! Does it serve a purpose? What does 'embarresment' have to do with anything? Your idea that it's just a matter of differing political opinions and that we just need to let the president do his job is absurd. It's about MORAL OUTRAGE at mass murder as a way to peace or anything else of lasting value. And yes, Bush's actions reflect on all of Americans, like it or not. HAHA. Yes, you're not bombing the people of Iraq, just the "insurgents" - which really means, you're not bombing the people of Iraq, just the people of Iraq that don't like being bombed. YOU GET A GRIP. Everyone in Iraq are people of Iraq. That's very basic reasoning for you. Of course other countries shouldn't dictate what you should do, but when they are so overwhelmingly against it, can you stop and reflect? If America is so keen on de

"And that's why 9/11 happened? Because Bush invaded Iraq and the world was pissed at him?" - This is what I mean by nonsense, everyone knows that this is nonsense if only because your timeline runs backward. I could easily flip this statement and it would make much more sense. "Bush invaded Iraq because 9/11 happened?" This is what he originally told us before he 'flip-flopped'. "No, it's about WMD's. Hey Beebes, if you support Bush shouldn't sign off "WAR" instead of "Peace". Hey Messybu, is nonsense arguments like yours really helpful or support your side of the argument? Hey chiprj, attacking people spelling is a good tactic when you can't argue your point, isn't it. "It's not Theory of Graviton since we still don't know what causes that" - Your so so wrong XX, You, like the others are confusing what is a fact with what is a theory about the fact. Einstein has 'theorized' that Gravity is caused the the warping of space. Over the last 80 years or so it has been proven time and time (and time) again. Even though it's the theory of relativity, does mean it's not true, and you'll be hard pressed to find any scien

This is cute, little semantic argument. The FACT is there is a force that appears to pull most things to the ground. That's the only FACT. The THEORY is what Newton and subsequently Einstein came up with to explain the FACTS of gravity. The explanation is a theory of the fact of gravity. And yes, just like the theory of evolution, Einstein's theory on gravitation has been proven to be 99.999% true. Nothing is 100% true. Nothing.
