I was really happy to see ObjectDock featured on Tekzilla - Stardock's stuff doesn't seem to get enough love in these circles. When it came to finding new icons or docks though they're showing how to do a Google search for them, as if they were actively avoiding giving Wincustomize a plug during the segment. I love Tekzilla, but that was kinda odd.

I think IconX runs as a window the size of your entire desktop, but set to the lowest z-order possible so it's always underneath the windows. You can see the same faux-fullscreen, taskbar hiding behaviour when you install some programs (ATI's Catalyst drivers come to mind). I've noticed now and then a window can get behind IconX as well. Usually it's something like the display properties dialog, and I have to alt-tab to it to get it to show.

I see the point of it, but the extra space item should be optional. Also, the only way I've found to get into the 'old' UI is to create a button that opens it. A little odd. The program's really coming along though The new UI is simple and easy enough to manage for most operations. Lubbit.

1280 bugs me too, used to be fine with it but now I'm gettin old Most of it's because my refresh rate goes down to 60hz on high resolutions, though. Time for a new monitor.

Yup, it's all the zealots' fault. Running Linux is ingrained in our collective consciousness as 'raging against the machine' and 'sticking it to the man'. Your average consumer doesn't really care much about that, though. hi guys, pouncing the thread here since I've been fighting with my DVD drive recently as well. It's a fairly old, cheap drive, and I won't rule out that it's simply worn out... but the whole thing is pretty much exactly as Kona's been describing. I still don't buy into this browser war thing. It might have been a big deal back in the Netscape days, when the browsers worked differently and pages that worked on one wouldn't work on the other. Nowadays, everything shows up proper on IE so I don't see any reason to switch.
