so true, wingman412. Not bringing up Kerry's Vietnam record would be akin to not bringing up the fact that Bush led us into Iraq. I don't hear bush supporters saying, "Let's forget about the fact that he brought us into Iraq...that's in the past." FOR THE MOST PART, Bush supporters continuously have to defend Bush's decision to take the US into Iraq...and they should...because a person's past actions have berring on how they will act in the fu

If the modern US government is guilty and should pay reparations, then logically, African governments should also pay reparations since it was African leaders that sold their fellow countrymen to the Europeans and Americans as slaves. They are just as responsible... That said, I want to reiterate, I think any modern nation giving money to descendants of slaves is stupid...these governments can be doing so much more to help those disenfrancised

I think it's a terrible, disrespectful idea. What, a nation can enslave a people as long as they pay them (or their descendants) at some point for their forced labor? That's ridiculous. How does money help make it right...the U.S. would still be guilty even after payments are made. The lingering repercussions of slavery run deep and throwing money at descendants of former slaves will not solve the issue.

so true. Thanks for framing the discussion that way.

Thanks for bringing this up, Texas. I think your misunderstanding is a common one. Everyone of those men and women are very important...I doubt you'll find anyone who wouldn't say that. Those of us who support the war and remind people that our military is made entirely of volunteers do not mean to belittle anyone's death. Every death is tragic...but ther

I updated my video driver and I still can't get it to work. I stand by my belief that this game has some serious problems. I'm not big into computer games, but I have NEVER had problems like this with the dozen or so games I have purchased over the past 5 years. I sent e-mail to tech support and they have yet to reply. My guess is that they're busier writing phoney reviews and posts than they are at working with customers to fix their problems

Citzen MommaErn: I respectfully disagree. I think that it's much more likely that if there is going to be a literal fulfillment of Revelation, the Beast's will rise from the political left. I'd strongly suggest check out the novel "Father Elijah." It's an awesome Christian politcal thriller. I hated all the Christian literature I read until I found Michael O'Brien, he's thoughtful and faithful. His series "Children of the Last Days" o

It's funny how history works. It was W who gave us the "big spending" No Child Left Behind education reform It was Clinton who gave us the "conservative" Welfare Reform. It was Bush Sr. who gave us the "liberal" ADA. It was Carter who gave us air lines deregulation. It was Nixon who got us out of Vietnam and into China. It was Eisenhower who spent like crazy to get us the Interstate Highway system. Just because the

I really appreciate the thoughtfulness fo this thread. It's so neat to see this topic discussed in a forum where everyone being so respectful. If one's sexuality is absolutely open and expressed publicly it is cheapened. We should all have enough self control to keep explicit expressions of sexuality, nudity, and the likes out of the public eye for the most part. By having sexuality on display everywhere it seems that our society has cheapened it to a point where an intimate moment

The US never said that the Iraqis would have democracy and freedom immediately, right? It takes awhile to stabilize a nation. We don't want to leave them on their own just to let them fall into a situation. If I remember correctly, over 10,000 South Africans died during the years following it's abolition of

The issue of a media outlet being liberal or conservative has little to do with the correspondents or journalists. NPR is the best example. They have more conservative commentators than liberal ones, but they are by no means conservative. Because of their liberal producers who decide content their list of stories are often stories that liberals are more likely to care about (evironmental issues, ci

BTW, when the gov't spends billions on defense I know companies like Haliburton (sp?) and Boeing get most of that money. So, although that's a lot of money, that money also represents a lot of jobs. Ok, when the US spends billions on Soc Sec I know that money is going to seniors who buy medicine (employing chemists) and pay rent (employing nurses, and other assisted living personnel). W
