, A Bush/Edwards administration? That would be HILARIOUS! Heck, it'd be worth the really confused 4 years for SURE! Just think, you could tell your grandkids, "Yessiree, I was alive when the electoral college tied for the second time in history... (smack, smack... put in dentures)... Yep, an' we got a 'publican president with a democrat vice president... yup... And it was craaazy times, chi

Wow, thanks, Texas! I feel so loved... I guess that's what happens when you're surrounded by people who agree with you... THAT doesn't happen much!!

, ShoZan, there is the problem that she's a lot bigger than me... I think she could beat me up... ... But then she'd never fit in with the French she wants to join so badly ...

! ShoZan, that's a very nice thought, but she's an American born 'n bred girl, who gets straight A's in all honors classes. She's no dummy, she's just... misguided? She's an ultra-liberal, and I guess she thinks America represents not liberty, but crushing weak little countries into submission so we can convert them into Christianity, destroy their culture, steal their gold and oil reserv

vincible- we were having a discussion in class about a story we'd been assigned the night before. It was about the American dream and all that.

Wow, little_whip! I've seen your comments before, and I was kind of hoping you'd stumble in here! Thanks so much, I'm really honored you liked my article! Thank you! Thanks also for the great comments from the rest of you guys- I'm glad to know that there are other people who agree that America is a place worth living in!

I just don't understand how she could say something like that in a roomful of people, and while plenty of folks cried out their agreement, not one person said, "Now wait just a dang minute." Has it become UNPOPULAR to love your country even if it's not perfect? I took her aside after class and asked her about it, and she said that America's always spouting off our ideals, but we're not an ideal country. Does that even make sense?! How can you hate a co

This was said in my honors English class a few days ago. (I'm a senior in H.S.) I was disgusted to hear others cry out "hell YES!" and "ME TOO!" She didn't say, "I hate Bush," or "I hate the war in Iraq," or "I hate the election process," but instead: "I hate America." America? Our one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all? Okay, maybe w

And certain issues are more important than others... if the major-party candidate you vote for shares your views on national security and the economy, isn't that more important than him not sharing your views on gay marriage and abortion rights? As long as you vote for a moderate enough Senate/House of Reps, the president can't get away with making decisions that go against your social views. So isn't it more important to vote for a candidate that shar

But, do you really want the "greater evil" guy in office for FOUR YEARS? Wouldn't you want the one who at least MOSTLY agrees with your views? No candidate will ever be elected who agrees with you entirely...

I think both Gideon and Freemark are making good points here... If you honestly think that both candidates are equally bad, and wouldn't even think of voting for "lesser of two evils" because the evils are equal, then why not vote for a third party candidate? If someone really hates both candidates that much, he/she probably wouldn't vote at all if there were no other choices. So voting for a 3rd party

How much $ does your candidate start off with, katiekate? And what's his/her stamina?

I'm sure you've all seen the footage of young Kerry, back from Vietnam, supposedly speaking about the bad things he saw other soldiers do. Right? Have you heard his ACCENT? It is total pretentious Bostonian. "In the stiile of GHEN-GIS Khahhn." Do you hear even a TRACE of that accent today? Hardly. And it's not like he's been living somewhere else besides Massachussettes for long enough that the accent faded. He CHANGED it on PURPOSE so he wouldn't soun

Yes. Yellow is unknown, and if it's in a state you have an HQ in, it will turn green or red depending on whether the event is good or bad.

Haha! My results are silly! What an eclectic mix!!! Dems, Reps, Libertarians, all at the same time! what a ridiculously small margin seperates Bush and Kerry in my results! I guess it's because I agree with conservatives on most financial and security issues, and agree with liberals on most social issues. How funny! 1. Your ideal theoretical candidate. Where you place your VP is also very important. Since he has an effect on the state he's in AND a small effect on the states around him, put him earlier on smack dab in the middle of could-go-either-way states. It can REALLY help. See, I like to save the endorsements for when I've run out of $ for HQ's. Why? Because HQ's bring in revenue, so the earlier you can get those babies started, the more cash you'll have to run TV ads later in the gam

You make a fair point. Ever hear that Aesop fable about the fox who couldn't reach a bunch of grapes, so he said "they're probably sour, anyway" ? I think there's some of that "sour grapes" phenomenon going on here. The average American will probably never attain Bill Gates's fabulous wealth, so what do they do? Poke fun at him, of course. Just look at the Hilton sisters. "Yeah, maybe I'm not rich, but at least I'm smarter than they are!" Could be, but

But you ARE asked to do interviews. When the little TV camera of your candidate's color pops up in a state, you fly over to that state and it automatically asks if you want to give the interview. You just have to keep an eye out for them.

Try saving the operatives for later in the game... when you're about two-thirds through, you can swoop in on the more wishy-washy states to pull them over to your side. TV ads are the best- you probably shouldn't bother too much with newspaper ones. Since TV ads have a national effect, try putting a lot of them in one state, and hiring a webmaster for that state to keep the upkeep costs down. Also, don't just focuse on 2 or 3 issues for the whole count

I think it is those who believe in making abortion illegal who are being selfish. (sorry if this sounds mean, I'm not trying to fuel any hatred here). What if it's the mother's life or the unborn baby's? Or what if giving birth would kill them BOTH? And sure, you can say "Well, that would be a special case," but that's not true at all. We all know how our system of government works. It would take at least a year to get permission in our messed up court
