The last title I remember with invasive copy protection was Silent Hunter 3. I wanted to get that game but after reading about it's copy protection and nightmare it was causing people I didn't. Now to be fair I didn't priate it either so it succeeded in that respect. It also succeeded in losing the copany a sale because I would have bought the title if it didn't have that CP. This is an outrage and you can belive I'll never buy any game wit

For anyone to say this game is buggy'er then the average honestly makes me chuckle. I have one thing to say - Master of Orion III GC2 has a few minor bugs all of which I have been able to work around. Even the couple crash bugs I know of "clicking the little x's to remove ships from a fleet to quickly" and "naming a new design the same as an obsolete ship". Thats all there is. Both those I can work around and the rest don't hamper my play or enjoyment. This game for a maj

First and foremost you need to be able to demoslish a economic/manufacturing etc capital. It's just flat out silly that once you put one down it'st here forever. Secondly when you conquer a planet that has one of these it should be destroyed automaticly. I just capture a run 4 world of the AI's and found out that one of the 3 buildings was an economic capital (don't ask me why the AI put it on that worthless rock). This happened before I had build my o

Why is there no way to regulate the types of planets ? You can choose how many habitable worlds , or how many planets. But what you can't do is dictate how frequent the size of the planets are. For instance I like lots of habitable planets in my galaxy but selecting abundent in this causes there to be a lvl 16 every few stars. I still want good planets to be rare but I just want lots of planets. I would like to be happy about finding a lvl 1

Why people who don't like what others have to say always seem to follow up their points with insults is always amusing. Ok lets talk about my "grasp" of reality. Firstly don't try and confuse my diminishing returns example of McD's with your example of local consumer goods production. See the problem with your example , is both of your places fall under the "Social" category in game. They are both abstracted into the local economy. The reality is the balance of our real wo

I don't aggree with the original poster. It is unrealistic to just take a planet and have nothing but 10 research labs on it. That people are asking for. I aggree with the current design and here is why (and I knew nothing of the mechanics before buying). On of the great failings of 4x space strategy games is they abandon realism in persute of apeasing min/maxers. Having some planet just be a 10 slot holding tank for you research

I was perusing the bug list and noticed that many people dont' think the upgrade works. They have the problem of trying to pull an item off and it "poping" back on unless they clear the whole thing. I upgarde my ships constantly (it rocks , all shipards currently producing the old version switch on their own) and don't have this problem and here is why. The simple work around is when you open the screen up to upgarde your design and remove (via list or clicking dosn't matter) the it

The deafult under windows is in your My Documents -> My Games -> GalCiv2 -> Ships I suggest when you upgrade your design using a naming convention to denote the new model. Example Scout I , then your first upgrade Scout IA , Scout IB , etc till a major upgrade like engines Scout II , then Scout IIA , etc.

Overall rating 4.5/5 Stars. There is a lot that could be said about Galactic Civilization 2(GC2). The first thing that jumps to mind would be that it is the 4x strategy equal of a narcotic. Which is to say that it's so good , it's likely to be bad for you health or at least your personal relationships. Now I don't say this lightly. I have been playing strategy games on the computer for as long as they have been made. I hold space strategy ga
