I'm trying to install the WindowBlinds 7 beta, as it is offered as an update through Impulse (and I'm curious), but after hitting the update-button, Impulse return an error saying my registration is not valid. I purchased WindowBlinds 6 months so I don't understand why I am receiving this message.

Thanx, my bad. I though I was in the clear for that (171 others destroyed), but I guess I shot a bit more military ships than I thought (which are one of the best targets, not to hard to kill, and the dropped equipment makes good cash).

No, you should see the change on the main screen. In the lower left corner there are two boxes for Planetary Battles and Text Quests and the top right there should be a second SR2 logo for the expansion and the original version you had (I think, at least, I have two of them). In the lower right corner it should say version 2.0 .
Any chance it might be written to be Linux compatible? Jonnan
Make that *nix comptible :-) There are more *nix OS's than Linux, such as Mac OS X and FreeBSD. But personally, I would be happy if it was written such that it could run fine through WINE. E.g. I can play SR2 under FreeBSD/WINE just fine.
Your post illuminates a depressing point. People who side with non-pirates are 'trolls', which I believe means people who create posts in disagreement with the general consensus. It follows that people have generally concluded piracy is legitimate, and anyone who disagrees is a 'troll'.
The problem with some people who side with "non-pirates" is that the pollute the discussion with short-sighted mis-information and language-pollution. Which is why they often are referred
Ultimately the figures were to just give an(other) example of how it can be perfectly rational to pay for a game that others are getting for free.
If people do not have a clue about how to use a computer and how the darn things works, then most of the times, they will be better of by just paying for stuff which someone with more expertise says they need. They'll most likely be suckered into purchasing stuff they don't need as well, but that is how the system works. Th

Too bad, but most debates become too difficult for people to follow and engage in, if they get complex with many arguments. I have to agree with TS. Diplomacy takes the fun out of the game. Strangely enough, turning diplomacy off makes the game way too easy. But overall, the game is excellent, especially considering it was done by a 9 man crew. Hopefully, Diplomcy will get an upgrade in future version.
How do you think good games or other related items are made? The list would include a good idea, skilled people making the game and money. If the budget is low, you will naturally get a worse game. And how do you think people get a higher budget?
It does take money, yes. But you don't need piles of it to make good stuff. The logic of having a low budget naturally leading to worse products is flawed. Take a movie like El Mariachi. Cost 7000$ to make, and was supposed to b

Does Impulse run on *nix through WINE? I can't find any information on this from Stardock, and the system requirements for Impulse are vague. It only mentions you need Windows XP or Vista (plus the usual hardware requirements) but it does not say whether it is compatible with WINE (or ReactOS for that matter). SDC did run on *nix through WINE, but I have the eerie feeling Impulse will not (already complains on Win XP about missing IE7). WineHQ AppDB lists Impulse with a garbage rating:

No. But I've got enough experience with software and media to understand where it comes from. The whole concept of copyright is based on morality. Creativity by people for people. L
There's a little annoying bug I've found that is a little frustrating. Sometimes when I have a big TEC fleet some of my ships just suddenly decide they want to fly off to another planet. No phase jumping or anything, they just start to fly toward the other planet at normal speed. I don't mind too much if a couple of light frigats are doing this, but in my last game one of my seige Capitals kept doing it and It was hurting my ability to win battles. Has anyone else had this issue come up?E

Never seen this thread before, but a short reply: Not allowing games to be sold on the second hand market (sold as in, the original owner no longer plays the game and sells the media and license and does not keep a "backup" copy) is both silly, anti-consumer and in some parts of the world, illegal. I never sell software and such second-hand, nor do I buy it that way. But some people and the law allows them that. While I can imagine that software-publishers may seem to thinks this is a "
I would make the exception that someone who purchases a legal copy of a game and then uses a pirated copy of that game (e.g. due to DRM preventing them say reinstalling their legal copy) shouldn't be punished (even if it is technically illegal)Thats a fair call, you make a good point, I had not thought of that angle, and I agree, it would be silly to prosecute.RegardsZyAny Enduser license for software includes a paragraf which forbids manipulating the software/files. Pirates are a great way of training capital ships. I always send three into the system the Pirates are raiding. The Pirates are not strong enough to destroy the Capital ships and you easily get 1000+ experience points by destroying them.

:-s If you don't want it to get uploaded to a torrent-site, don't put it in the beta. I'm pretty sure 99,99% of the people here would not do something like that, but there is a good chance that someone will. And the way it is put know, 99,99% of the people will feel offended.
