Just so that everyone is aware: This is not an official support channel. PoliticalMachine.com is run by Stardock. We are the software developer who wrote the game. This support channel isn't an "official" channel. The official support options for the game are in the back of The Political Machine user manual. So any support we provide is in addition to those channels. Think of this forum as the last line of defense, it shouldn't be your first option. I.e. this

DesktopX 2.21 has been released. DesktopX is a program that extends Windows to support true objects on the desktop. These objects are used to do everything from have "super icons" to being combined together to create

Included in this ZIP is a file we hope will fix the following: 1) The endorsement crash problem (Cause: Windows 98 handles INI files differently than other OSes) 2) "Cannot initialize display" (Working attempt here is to try to force into various other modes in the driver to see if we can get around it) 3) Game crashes after intro. If you're not running into any problems, then don't bother with this. <A href="https://www.stardock.com/private/test102.zip

At this stage there are two main issues we find some people having: 1) Cannot Find Display or 2) Game crashes after intro. Problem #1 has to do with their video card and problem #2 has to do with the Safedisc copy protection and can be fixed by contacting either [email protected] or [email protected] Now for those of you having problem #1 OR some other video card/sy

The crashing after intro one is that bloody copy protection thing. Evil..EEVIIL. But if you eamil support and let them know they can help you on that.

It really is hard to find a good balance. I saw someone on Amazon.com claiming that The Political Machine has a Republican bent even though in our internal AI vs AI Kerry wins 4 out of 7 games. In The Political Machine, it all depends on the initial game settings.

We need to know a little bit about your computer. The endorsement bug, which is our bug, is something we're working on but it seems to only happen on Windows 98 boxes which is odd. But we really need to know more on your computer to get started in helping.

No, the one writing phony reviews is enkydu like he did here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002LAUNE/qid=1094580032/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_1/104-9362348-1185526?v=glance&s=videogames&n=507846 The game will work fine on pretty much any computer that has updated video drivers installed. For those of you interested in trying out the game before you buy it, you can get a taste of what the game is like by going here: http://www.download.com/The-Political-Machine/3000-8027-10312016.html?tag=lst-0-1 Have fun!

For those people who can't get their drivers updated because their hardware manufacturer isn't supporting them anymore for whatever reason, this site has helped a lot of people: http://OMEGADRIVERS.NET So to those who run into "Display cannot be found" or corrupted graphics or register dumps (blue screen) these are all because of faulty video drivers that can be fixed with updated drivers. I'm thinking that it's that bloody copy protection thing. This requires the 1.01 update from http://storage.stardock.com/files/pm101_update.exe be installed first. Then replace PolMachine.exe with the one in h

Just so you know, this is our highest priority issue right now since this is definitely our bug in some way. One thing I have noticed is that it mainly happens on Windows 98. Not sure why.

And what are you guys working on? I'm still having the "no-text" issue even with the most recent driver and DirectX software. There's no "fix" for that I'm afraid. All we can say is make sure you have the latest Windows Service Pack, the latest video driver and the latest DirectX. There is no

We have found that some of the data (saved data) from 1.0 isn't compatible with 1.01. You may want to uninstall it, reinstall ita nd then immediately apply 1.01 and then start your campaign.

Hi DF, Make sure you've tried out The Corporate Machine (www.corporatemachine.com) as it is a business strategy game that was critically acclaimed.

Well let me give you the technical issue in a nutshell: We use Texture and Lighting in the game very heavily. This is a "3D" function but we use is so that we can do things like zoom in on the map and change the color of things very quickly. The result is very smooth game play for most people. It appears that the older Intel chipset drivers don't support even the software mode (Which they're supposed to in order to be certified by MS) which causes the game to fail. Whe

There are some good ideas here. I can tell you that we are working on a v1.02 that does make a few tweaks: 1) There will be endorsement penalities in terms of cost. Some endorsements will cost more than others depending on your political party. 2) Updated issues / interview questions 3) Some AI tweaks That should come out in the next couple of weeks. Please be aware that unlike with Galactic Civilizations, Stardock cannot release updates on its

I'm not sure. It runs on my TNT card which is pretty old but I don't want to make any promises. The demo of The Political Machine is at http://www.download.com/The-Political-Machine/3000-8027-10312016.html?tag=lst-0-1

BTW, as a suggestion, you can get a decent video card for $40 that would take care of all these issues. Are you running on a desktop or laptop?
