Today let's do a quick walk-through of The Political Machine 2020. This will include what's new from previous editions as well as a discussion of the underlying simulation. Creating a candidate When creating a candidate you have a finite # of points to use to figure out what your candidate's strengths are. Stamina: How many

For this election cycle we have a ton of updates in store between now and election day. Below is a tentative schedule: ## Spring 2020 ## Steam Workshop support for creating and sharing your own political ideologies. This year is a total, 100% rewrite of the game and while doing so we revisited everything about the game. The feature we like the most so far are the ideologies which will bring imm

Hi there. Thanks for writing. Here are a few answers: 1. It supports multiplayer. 2. They must play as a candidate (either an existing one or one they create) 3. It would depend on how the course is taught. Previous editions were used in HS and college where they would discuss the power of local vs. national issues, getting out the vote, the role of political operatives, fund raising, etc. 4. Outcome is not pre-determined.

The biggest, most game changing feature of The Political Machine 2020 are the ideology trees. Each candidate can have their own ideology tree which makes Bernie Sanders play quite a bit differently than say Joe Biden. For today's entry, I am going to try out making a custom candidate and choose the Fascism ideology. I'm going to loosely base him off of one of my favorite villains of Stephen King's book, The Dead Zone. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?

In video game terms: Each state is worth N points where N is based on its population. The winner of the state gets those points. You have to win over half the points to win the election. The founding fathers foresaw the day of a video game that would make use of that and put into place this system for that day.

It would be well beyond our capability. The best we'd be able to do is create our own custom Linux-based distribution. As it stands, we're pretty happy with Windows. Even Windows 8, minus "Metro" is pretty outstanding IMO. The biggest worry we have remains the attempt to merge a desktop experience and a mobile experience into a one-size fits all solution complete with its own walled garden.

The Political Machine requires video cards that support pixel shader 2.0. Namely: - NVidia FX series and higher - ATI Radeon 9500 and higher - Intel 9-series chipsets and higher (http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-014257.htm) (If you do not have a supported card, you can probably find one for as little as $24.99 from places such as newegg.com.) Normally, on our other games, this isn't a problem as nearly all video cards support this.</
Btw....Withdrawing from Iraq is also favored by independents...not just Democrats (70% of the entire US Population)...yet it is a losing issue for Democrats in this game?
THAT is what you wrote. Now you claimj 59% support withdrawing within a year you say. In the game, it's modeled that Democrats very much want to withdraw from iraq. Republicans don't want to but don't feel as strongly, and independents are basically neutral (i.e. -5 to -8 on a scale fr

The Political Machine 2008 has arrived! If you have any problems, please post here. Please include your OS and video card info as well. The debug.err file located in My Documents\My Games\PolMachine2008 has a print out from dxdiag listing your system information, so you can copy and paste the information from that. Here are things to try: #1 Update your video drivers. The Political Machine WILL crash if your video drivers are old. Not might. Will. It absolutely r

Airb - it's almost certainly due to your video drivers. The game uses pixel shader 2 and older drivers don't support it.
Actually, you're right. Except McCain, he always seems to have a huge lead in the games I have started. Either way, the game crashes too much to finish But the game definitely feels more realistic than the original, and is very fun.
McCain is very difficult to win with. I can't beat Obama on hard with McCain and I wrote the AI.
Ahh, a perfect Bushian response. But we all know that facts are stubborn things and have a liberal bias to boot. Polls consistently show a large majority (generally around 60% or so and clearly not even) favoring various fairly short term withdrawal time tables (roughly immediate to two years). So I think the OP's objection is spot on. As a political junkie, I was considering purchasing this, but as a Democrat, I will probably pass.
If you can provide a link to a major
Yeah, that is not fair at all. Seems like the game is completely biased towards the Republicans. Even issues such as the Iraq war show independents in line with the republicans. Democrats and Independents are much more alike on key issues for 2008 (Economy, Iraq War, etc.).
No, the game is not biased towards either. We had beta testers accusing us of being liberals and conservatives depending on what their ideology was. I've had people swear you can't win with Mc

If you start a game and check the exit polls it's pretty even. Incidentally, no, 70% of Americans are not in favor of pulling out of Iraq. The issue ratings in the game are purely based on existing polls and exit polling. The game is not biased in favor of either party.

For those of you who pre-ordered, the batch job for sending out emails was quicker than the batch job for activating said serials. So some users received a "account expired" message. We're about to send out a second email job to let people know that the activation has completed. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Amer312, that's a really good question... what say you Frogboy? And thank you for coming here and letting us know the issues. Although it isn't what we wanted to here I for one am greatful to know why the beta was halted.
Yea, I have to say, in the 20 or so years I've been making games, this one has been the roughest in terms of time constraints. I've never worked as many hours as I have on this. Now, I should clarify something on that because what has ha
