More Corruption in DC

but this time the MSM buries it, why?

A former aid to Representative Jefferson (D) of LA pleaded guilt today on corruption charges. He will face up to twenty years in jail for demanding bribes for his Congressmen. Here are the links to two buried stories.

Where is the out rage and the screams? While Abrumoff gave out vacation golf trips, and legal campaign contributions, not one MSM has even placed this story near the front page. This was a strait up shake down for hard cash, but not a word.

Another shake down swept under the carpet has been the Ms. Clinton's Hollywood fundraiser that has sent one of her campaign finance director's to jail for lying to the FEC about a missing $400,000 dollars and over $100,000 in unreported travel charges. A half a million dollars makes a few golf trips look silly now, don't it?

Lets just place a cherry on the top of under reported scandals with the pardoning of Mr. Rich for over $48 million dollars in IRS taxes. When Miss Rich donated 1.3 million to the DNC, $70,000 to the Ms. Clinton campaign and a cool $450,000 to the Clinton library that we know of (it may be more but the library refuses to release the contributor's records). Boy, paying $2 million to politicians in exchange for $48 million taken away from paying the national debt, is a very good deal.

Wah wah wah. All you did was solidify an opinion I now have about you, BenU. You used this talking point about a shifty Dem to point out 11 Republican Congressmen who are also as shifty. Nice snow job.
For someone who I hoped was an honest seeker of truth in politics, you sure are a blathering mouthpiece for Democrat apologetics...
"well thats okay you should see how bad the evil corrupt nasty smelly republicans are"

Oh yeah, and who is CREW anyway? I'd like to see some of their other "unbiased" lists of information.

Actually, while not technically illegal, after the Katrina Flood, he used some National Guard Units to help him take some possessions from his home in New Orleans.  This was while the National Guard was still trying to evacuate people (but of course his possessions are more important than people).

What do a bunch of women in real estate know about Politics or Scandal?  Maybe the list bu gave us are the ones that shorted their commissions?

They are questioning Eric Cantor?  That guy is so squeaky clean, you can put him in a clean room with no gown!  You are right!  They are loons!

What do you base this on, Dr. Guy? Are you in his Washington office monitoring every donation the man accepts? Have you researched every PAC that has contributed to his campaigns? Have you reviewed a report on the gifts accepted by his staff, who the gifts came from and what was done in return for the gifts (if anything)?

It's pretty hard to be squeaky clean in DC.

The reason CREW is looking into him is because (according to them):

• Held a fundraising event at a delicatessen owned by Mr. Abramoff , failing to pay the $1,732 bill for the event until six months later and then, only after the Jewish Forward raised questions about whether Rep. Cantor had broken campaign finance laws by failing to pay the bill.

• Accepted $12,000 in campaign contributions from Mr. Abramoff, his wife and associates in 2003-2004.

I'm sure that by the end of this, everyone in this city will have had some connection to Jack and his dirty money.

His record.  Nothing of what you just posted is illegal, unethical or immoral.  And he has been a quiet yet tireless worker who thinks that doing the job he was elected to do is more important than demigoging for the cameras.  I dont know why you dont like him as he has nothing to do with you, nor has he been out there calling Waxman and Pelosi "little stalins".  I guess that R behind his name is justification enough for smearing him and casting aspersions on him, as is their habit (not there right).

But I guess you missed this article http://www.timesdispatch.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=RTD/MGArticle/RTD_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1128769080490 after the Abramoff scandal broke.  I know Crew did.

Um. First, he does have something to do with me. He happens to be a Congressman from the state that I am registered to vote in. But, besides that, I don't have anything against him. I'm just saying that unless you have the inside scoop you can't know if someone is "squeaky clean" or not. I think we will all be surprised by the breadth of this scandal. I don't think very many (if anyone) will remain untouched.

Cantor should have returned the money. Very noble that he gave it to charity, but it should have been returned.

Why give the money to a convicted felon?  Better to give it to a charity where it will do more good.

And he may be in your state, but he is not your rep.

And therefore I can not have an opinion on him? Keep that in mind when you talk about Hillary or any of the other Dems.

When the scandal broke, Abramoff wasn't a convicted felon.

I did not say you could not have an opinion on him. I just said I dont know why you dont like him.

He was when Cantor donated the money. (or at least he had copped a plea at that point).

I am sure more will be uncovered. In today's politically charge nation, we need to really look at what are illegal brides compared to what are legal campaign contributions. Allot of fingers are getting pointed at allot of people. Under the present system, allot of things people are screaming bribe on and throwing mud about, is really not illegal. But it is just another way of crying corruption where there really is none.

This story, that has been buried, is a clear case of a Congressman out actively strong arming a company for cold hard cash. Let me put this last note in though: At this time only the Congressman's Aid has been found guilty, so this is only my opinion. I may be sounding one sided on my argument here, but I have noticed that to may things are being swept under the rug or suppressed (like the 10 year old independent counsel investigation that just been barely released), by those who appear to be committing even larger criminal acts themselves being suppressed.

In what sense has this story been "buried"?

It's been reported on CNN, MSNBC, Washington Post, New York Times, Louisville Courier-Journal, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Reuters, Yahoo News, and many more.

It did not, for a lot of reasons.

As of the 14th, when this post was written, only FOX's Beltway boys (really only a footnote) had anything on this. I had my ear to the other networks (CNN, MSNBS, FOX) for the three days after the AP report was released (I had the days off).

On the 14th I Googled and Yahooed, but only found the two links that I provided.

As for your assertion that the New York Times carried it. They did on page NINE, no where near the front. Boston Globe never even printed it, but does now after the fact have a non-linked article on their web site. The Yahoo News has no links in their political or national sections, you will have to do a search (that I did on the 14th to no avail on the 14th) to find it. I have been traveling this last week and have not had an ear to the news so much. But still have not heard anything from them either when I have watched an hourly report. As for the news websites, this story now can be found if the name is searched, but none while doing a quick scan through have this in the listing of political or national news links. At the time of my research, I could not even find it in the Search mode.

It looks like you did some sort of Google search to have found the likes of the Cleveland Plains and Louisville to make your point. While it is easy to find reports on the Republican scandals, little effort has been put into this guilty plea by the MSM.
