Slip sliding away

Slip sliding away

Bush keeps sinking

New poll numbers were published today showing that dubya's approval ratings are dropping yet again.

Link

His overall job approval rating is at 42%. There have been previous presidents with lower scores (Nixon and Truman during their last terms for example). But the telling sign is his approval rating on his handling of the Iraq war. His rating in this department has slipped to a Johnson-like 38%.

I think the chickens are finally coming home to roost on poor dubya. His solution? Going on yet another vacation in Crawford.

Thanks for reading,

When you have had the job for five years, and have spent about one year of it on vacation...Well yeah i think it's worth mention.

You are still missing the point. You call it a vacation? Go do a search on his itinerary for his supposed vacation.

why is there no whining about the entire congress taking a vacation?

How about the entire supreme court?

I guess crying is only allowed when somehow it can show President Bush is...... ummmmmmmm human?

I think we should also note that most second term presidents see their approval ratings slide at this point...with the GOP '08 race wide open, prominent Republicans have to start making waves within the party and this is bound to create confusion and thus a dip in numbers...and also, Bush is a horrible schmuck. But this fits the usual trend of a 2 termer.

Myr brings up a good point here folks.

Mod,

I feel the same way about these extended vacations when the Congress takes them.

Allow me to clarify one last time for all of you. It's not the fact that he takes a lot of time off. He does do some work out in Crawford. It's a tough job. I just think that with everything that happened last week in Iraq, He picked a bad time to leave town. It gives the appearance to the everyday Joe that he could give a flying f**k about what is going on during his little war.

As far as poll numbers and the size of the cross section go. It's not just the AP poll that is reflecting the slide. All the polls that i have seen are reflecting a drop in both his overall rating, and his rating on the war in Iraq. If it was one particular poll that came from a group with liberal leanings, i wouldn't have written this article.

Congress being in recess is not the same as the Senators and Congressman being on vacation. They are back in their districts and states working out of their local offices, but they certainly are not on vacation.

There's a difference between a Congressional recess and extended vacations Shades. Go to your local Rep or Senator's webpage and most of the time they have a calendar.

What exactly are you referring to as extended vacation? We are currently in an August recess, and I doubt very much that the entire congress is on an extended vacation.

Well i mean my senator is on vacation when he should be at least checking in at the office...But then again my senator is Orrin hatch. He's adept at the slacking.

Actually, in Va, the Senators and reps only work 2 months of the year.  At least officially.  We would be better off if that was all congress worked as well.
