Reply By: ParaTed2kPosted: Thursday, July 28, 2005a recently completed audit of 2004 traffic stops (required of the lapd as part of a federal consent degree) constained some innaresting information. 4 times as many black drivers as white or asian drivers were were stopped by police last year. 38% of those blacks stopped were found to be in possession of a weapon or narcotics. 55% of white drivers, 54% of asian drivers and 65% of latino drivers stopped by the lapd possessed weapons or gunsI thought we weren't supposed to pay any attention to a person's race, so why do you (and the racial profilers who compiled the list).

simple ted, racial profiling is GOOD when it backs up there arguements, bad when it back up mine or yours.

really? the community in which i live has a large percentage of immigrants from what was once jugoslavia and their descendants. until the mid-80s, the proponents and opponents of marshall tito continued to fight wwi and wwii. there were a minimum of 3 car bombings a year for all those years...sometimes a home or business went up as well. there were times during wars in the balkans when opposing sides would demonstrate along several miles of main streets, all wearing national dress and hoisting old flags. you got no clue.

But if what you say is true, kingbee, perhaps someone from Homeland Security would like to speak with you. I'm certainly not saying that forged passports and such dont exist, of course they do, but if you know where to obtain one that quickly and that cheaply, be a good American and turn those criminals in.

mm agrees comletely. there WAS A TIME WHEN mm WAS A BAD guy and knew the ins and outs and I know it takes quite an operation to set up complete papers and it ain't or was not cheap either. Turn the bad guys in.

I'd like to know what kind of associates you hang out with if you can "easily" get that many passable documents in "about 40 minutes." If its that damn easy, why have passports in the first place? Why do we have so many "undocumented workers" if documents are that insanely easy to obtain? Why have a no-fly list? Cus like...if yer on a no-fly list, dude, I have a buddy in California that can hook you up with everything you need for just a few bucks.

if homeland security doesn't know where to go, they're not paying attention. several years ago, 60 minutes' morey safer got hisself a complete set in a half hour.

if i'd been ho chi minh during the 60s, there'd be a whole lotta onehanded smokers cuz i woulda made sure 7-11 was supplied with really cheap disposable butane lighters that went off in your hand.

Problem here MM is that "most" arguments fall into an automatic gainsay at best ( No I didn't! Yes, you did!). Which leads down the dark path to anger!

That would not be caught today regardless of whethere they were muslim or norwegian.  You can come up with all sorts of ways to circumvent the checks.  But until they are used, no one is going to listen.  And it still does not change the fact that so far, all the perps have been of Arab Muslim descent.  So at the very least, check all of them.  You want to Frisk UmaMater Carlsson?  Go get your jollies.  But the percentage is off the scale that it will do a damn bit of good.
