HELP!

HELP!

What's happening!?

OK, I know this is a shot in the dark, 'cause there are a million reasons for these things happening, but I was hoping there was some PC guru out there who might have an idea... These things have happened to my computer in the last few weeks, one by one...

-CorelDRAW 9 no longer opens. I've tried reinstalling. It starts to load, then just quits.

-when rightclicking on a picture file, and saying open with Paintshop Pro 6.. it says "Windows cannot locate the file..." However PSP6 opens, and the files can be opened from there... and all files can still be viewed with Windows picture and fax viewer. This same thing occurs with CorelDRAW files.

-When going to Control panel, accounts page... only a blank white window opens with the back and forward arrows in the corner... no account info appears... same thing happens if I click my icon on the start menu.

-Windows Media Player 10 will not run... says "Internal Application Error"

-HP Scanner program will not open... similar to CorelDRAW 9, it starts to load, then just quits.

I always have virus protection running and a firewall. And I've done these things... Virus scan, defrag, ran a cleanup program, reinstalled HP scanner software and CorelDRAW 9, nothing has changed.

PLEASE DON'T TELL ME I NEED TO REINSTALL WINDOWS...

If you're going to go the reinstall route, just do a repair reinstall so you don't lose all your data and apps.
If it is a Win update problem, it still may not fix your problems.
I'd either wait for your CD, or download the network of SP2. I had a BITS problem recently and reinstalling SP2 and getting all the latest updates fixed things.

Ditto...

My issue was a Norton uninstaller killing BITS....

Download the network installer here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

It'll let you install right over top of the first install.

Holy crap, you have some patients my friend.. I'd have tossed my computer out the window vista by now! By the way, My problem has not been solved as of yet... but I think it may be the bios battery which can cause a multitude of problems. And I'm gonna have a second 100g harddrive put in so I can move everything over there and reinstall windows. At this point I'm ready for a fresh start anyway. Thanks again for all the help! Bichur, good luck with that waiting business...!
