POST SITE PROBLEMS HERE

I am seeing a bunch of hit and miss posts about issues that people are having.  However, it is impossible for the web programmers to find the reports in this fashion.  Though Cordelia can relay the messages, she can't actually fix the issues (as can none of us expect the web team).

So, please post your issues here.  *BUT*, when you do, make sure that you are giving every detail possible.  A "this site is acting odd" report will get us nowhere.  Post when, where, and how the problem occurred.  Also let us know what browser you are using and if you have already tried cleaning your cookies.  Reproducible issues are easiest to track (with info on how to reproduce them) so, please try to reproduce the issue prior to reporting it.

Please remember that the more info you provide, the more likely it can be fixed.

forgot to tell her what the word for Park is (as in central park).

Guess CENTRAL park is what my hairdont implies, not my favorite park, though. Would be nice in a park, but she probably has as many park dates as her husband wants her to have anyway, unless I cook
the right tea for him on sunday mornings. I am too much of a sissy for doing weird stuff
like that, meaning I will wind up in central park without lil whip, where I may find
a clean link to ju somewhere in the doggie - does behind the trees, which will do for a temp

Currently can only read peoples most recent comments here by logging in from WC site,
not from JU, whereas I can see latest articles on JU.

There has been a server problem at another site reported on June 23, 2005.
http://www.hutteman.com/weblog/rss.xml gives rss feed including "Strange
bandwidth issue" and comments.

Very interesting comments came in by quite advanced users which I am not. Even if
they don´t have the same problem, most of which was fixed, I think, some of
the comments may be something to make Cordelia relax in her spare time, which she
won´t have much of, if she can read this at all here right now.

New Problem...
When I refresh my page all I get is a grey screen with a JU Logo...it takes 3 or 4 attempts to get into the site again...

I couldn't get on to JU at all yesterday. Finally I got on today and posted a couple of articles. I've been trying to read and respond to some but having problem. Each time I click on an article I get a page can't be found, blank page or someother web search page. It's getting tiresome so I'm going to log off and try again later today.

Yum yum in my tum! Taste good, someone does have a bakery, after all!
The links to my articles have come alive again in the WC forum, they have
new menu context items there too, Stardock forum also has new loggin in and out
options or? has reactivated them, JU has improved editing and quoting, is still
closed down for work which is good you can login there if you sneak in from a
back door but cant log out without using an other secret back door I have found,
it looks better though. Hang, on!

Forums seem to be in working order. But, that's about it.

Darn it, I have new poems to post. They'll wait, I suppose.

L_W, we haven't said anything because...well...we don't know.  JU seems to be having bad effects on our other sites, and since it's a free site (not a core business site) it may be up and down until we know that it can stay up without taking down our other sites.

They (the web guys) are working on it as fast as they can.

If I wasn't egotistical, I'd make an unsolicited suggestion... Oh, wait, I am...

I assume you've got everything buffered and streamlined as much as you can with the hardware you've got. Why not serve this place up as static HTML that updates itself every 10 minutes or so. The forums, at least. That would cut down on the 'real time chat' aspect, which db forums were never really intended to be.

Add a "verify" step to the submission, so that people will edit it before it goes in, and then let them wait a few minutes for everything to update. You could even put a little 'X minutes until next update' statement somewhere so people wouldn't just sit and bang the boards checking.

At least it would take the load of the db with little or no extra expense, right? IMHO, the real strain on this place is all us nitwits banging away at the messageboard, usually when there's not been enough time for anyone to reply anyway.

Just a suggestion.

Should I be making back-up copies of my favorite articles, "just in case?" I'd hate to attempt a log on one day to find JU shut down until further notice

We wouldn't do that.  If anything, we would end up switching it over to use one of our other forum systems (like the one WinCustomize uses).

There are no current plans to shut down JU or to even keep it down for an extended amount of time.

OK this is geting very frustrating. This morning I can get back into my blog (first time in 3 days) but now I can not edit my own post in the forums, and when I try to edit I get this:

Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Source Error:

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:

1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:

<%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>

or:

2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:

Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.

Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.
