Jafo...here's an idea to kick around.

How about we have a sticky thread...lets say we call it something like "Site Error Logs" with instructions for people encountering "any" site errors should come and post "only"...what the error was...the time of day...and in what area of the site the errors were encountered each time they happen (as soon as its possible). And have everyone refrain from posting long draw out explanations about how pissed they are or anything else of that nature...just the facts of the issue. And yes I know...we already have the "site issues" forum, but I guess people don't know to choose the "site issues" when posting and the issues seem to get spread all over the place. So maybe we could have just a sticky thread for this as well and they could just click on that and add their specific issue. Just a thought.

This way the techs would only have to read through 1 thread to see what the problems were rather than having to go hunt through numerous threads thoughout the whole forum. Because this morning just browsing through the forums I've come across numerous thread posting problems.

Now...on another note/question...I've seen numerous times where people were asked to clean out their cache..temporary files...etc, etc. in an attempt to maybe solve problems with site issues they are having, which much of the time doesn't solve the issue.

So my question is...is there something specific to WinCustomize where this is always needed? The reason I ask is because I never encounter any of these issues elsewhere on the net and never have to clean out anything in order for those sites to work.

each time they happen

Not be be ugly, you're thought is good except for the everytime part. If there are more days like today, I wouldn't have had a chance at all of seeing anything else on the site except the posts to report the problems.

If there are more days like today, I wouldn't have had a chance at all of seeing anything else on the site except the posts to report the problems, not to mention the amount of posts would be far more than they are now. I made 2 posts today on 2 different threads. And Fairyy gave a link to this thread when she saw that this one existed. If I had reported the problems I have encountered today, each time they happened, it would be more than a dozen just from me.

Along the lines of DZ's mention of comment counts being inaccurately displayed, here is a bit of a issue, though perhaps not what DZ meant:

If you go to this posted thread Link, which is here at WC - you will see gaps in the comment numbers.

If you go to the same posted thread here Link, which is actually on Stardock forums - you will see all comments in order.

Not sure if this could be creating an issue with sites, but is a bit confusing if you don't know where the other comments are.

Sorry to bother.

Clwoods...that shouldn't be a problem considering that some threads on the forums have more that 4,000 entries about things that have nothing to do with the site issues. And the entries I'm talking about should be very short ...let's say only a few lines...as opposed to a drawn out post.

Point taken, but if I were to report all the problems I had today, I would have had time for nothing else, not to mention it would have been the same thing over and over.
I do however, like your idea about short posts to a specific thread. That would make a difference. Just not everyone, as that would become redundant.

DZ, I was able to see the image by copying the URL and pasting it to my browser address bar...also you might try uploading it to your personal wincustomize album, then provide a link to it.

This could also be done on a weekly basis rather than every day. Just keep a record of each error and at the end of the week make a quick report...such as...Server errors 4 times while trying to access such and such library...and so on. This of course would also be on a voluntary basis...and...if you see someone else reporting the same problem you could just echo the post...such as ditto on post such and such.

The whole point of it would be to keep error reporting to a single thread so the developers can keep better track of them.

Thanks Ama, But you know..::laughs:: I can see both of them without pasting anything anywhere..the images are in this thread.. I'm thinking it's just more server errors....

I have long since deleted the graphic from my system and all my temp files are clean, so it isnt simply a case of having the originating image file..they are posted and are visible...

I was able to see the image by copying the URL and pasting it to my browser address bar

All I was trying to do is prevent "Flyin" or any of the other tech's from having to do that to witness what I was when I viewed the boards..

I have already agreed with you on that.

Well, I just tried to post a response on "Icons on Desktop" in the OS Customization, and got this error:

UPDATE failed because the following SET options have incorrect settings: 'ARITHABORT'.

I closing the forums, exiting out and then back in to the site, still the same error

Never mind....now, it works!

Sorry about that.  A little minor glitch that SQL server put in for us when we were tweaking database indexes.

"A time out occurred while waiting for memory resources to execute the query. Rerun the query."

Ran into this one today - assuming it is memory on server.

~Just came online a short time ago. So far I've had about 12 various errors. I think i've only been here 37 minutes and viewed 2 pages. If I try to go to " My Skins " I get a blank page with this message : My Skins
Submit A Skin
This page is currenly displaying ~ Fairyy's skin submissions.
Column 'OverallReferrals' does not belong to table -2.
The site issue thread I started before has been locked so Im not sure where to post errors now.....so I guess I'll put them here for now.

ody>

HTTP/1.1 500 Server Error

An Error Occurred

There was a problem opening /MySkins.aspx.
Whatever you were trying to do, it didn't work out the way you expected.
You could go back and try again, or perhaps return to the Home Page.

I didnt bother copying the rest of the errors...

Trick:
Instead of having personal site fun just to get into My Skins, type this in te address bar:

https://www.wincustomize.com/MySkins.aspx

And you will get there through the main site. Some of the images there appear to be broken, but here's a screenie of what I meant earlier:
