Thank YOU President Bush

Thank YOU President Bush

Some well deserved gratitude

Thank you President bush for:

Having one of the lowest unemployment rates of any sitting president.

For freeing millions of oppressed people in Afghanistan and Iraq.

For helping the Jews and Palestinians to finally start to work out a viable peace plan.

For being the first country to come to the aid of the tsunami victims.

For being true to your vision against all odds.

For being man enough to be the first president to attend a Pope’s funeral.

For wanting to do something about a broken social security system.

For being true to those that work for you, and not throw them to the wolves at the first sign of opposition.

Thank you for your incredible strength as the leader of the free world.

Thank you for being willing to reach out to the opposite party in the spirit of a stronger America.

Thank you for all the sleepless nights you spend worrying about our troops overseas.

Bless your for having the courage to wear your love of God on your sleeve.

Most of all thank you for defeating the traitorous Hanoi John Kerry in the last election so he is not in the position of betraying our great country again.

got to disagree doc, by voting record {mine} I am a dyed in the wool Moderate.

Just an over reaction.  I accept the reprimand.  Sorry sir!

The issue is we do not tax enough for the level of spending. The question is which group can pay more to deal with the imbalance? The only group who can affort a little higher taxes are the wealthy. They are also the group that got the big cuts under Bush. If we had a balanced budget then the tax cuts to the top 5% would be fine. That is not the situation.

So?  Show us a copy of your check where you donated to the deficit.  Otherwise, shut your pie hole!

I am not in the top 5% and I have paid my share. You should remember that old saying, " better to remain silent and appear ignorant then to open your mouth and remove all doubt".

The tax cuts for the middle income taxpayer were good. The tax cuts for the top 5% we can not afford. We are 675 Billion short. Who do you expect will pay this? If the economy has recovered as Bush tell us, then our budget should be balanced. If it is not and we must spend at the current levels, we need more revenue.

The top 5% are already paying half the taxes. Why should we have to pay even more? You want to get rid of the deficit, then start naming programs you want to cut.  It has already been proven that the deficit is not caused by the tax cuts.  Only 13% of that deficit last year comes from the tax cuts and of that 13%, only a few percent of that went to the top 5%.  In other words, your complaint is specious.

If it weren't for that tax cut you complain so much about, you wouldn't have this website to complain on.

And speaking of people who never have a coherent response, I've pointed these facts out to you before and you tend to just gloss over them and repeat your misconceptions.  We can debate all day on foreign policy, but the causes of the current deficit and what not are not a matter of debate.

As for the left, it is my experience that the left is incredibly intolerant of opinions counter to their own.  One notes how it's left wingers who are the ones who shout how this is a "righty" site.  And that argument is based on what?  Of the 10 home page topics, only two are political - one is written by a liberal criticizing the far right and the other one is a complaint about Bush's handling of the Berger case.  Meanwhile the forums are pretty evenly distributed.

Perhaps the reason that the left is so quick to call people fascists and nazi's is that they are trying to distract people from the fact that their intolerance and regular real-world attempts to quash dissenting opinions on universities and in the media bears a striking resemblance to fascism.

And as I have pointed out to you, patiently, Col Gene, the deficits are mostly caused by the economic slow down that started before Bush was even elected and increased spending.

Bush definitely shares a lot of blame for the deficits but as a % of GDP, the current deficits are pretty mild.

These are all things that people have pointed out to you, Col Gene.  The fact you keep ignoring them just causes those who might possibly consider you to be a reasonable person to start dismissing your opinions as a bunch of odd-balls.

But on the bright side, it's people like you that's encouraging me to assign someone to implement a "ignore user" feature so that I can more easily ignore your intellectually dishonest ramblings.

When you see the interest that will be required to be paid on the debt, tell me about % of GDP. You are all nuts. The day is comming when this country will be unable to function. If other countries get to the point where they will not lend us more money, the s*it will hit the fan! I hope at that point the liberals take control and tax the hell out of the top 5%. They will deserve it!

How come "smart " people cannot seem to connect the dots? There is always a thread that runs from president to president the new one either gains or loses from his predasessor.

yep this is a great idea lets do much more selective things here in america, How about No educated people serve in military? How about no pay for politicions? not a dime.. let public service be its own reward. while we are selectively taxing the very rich. lets pay the debt down by maybe killing some ill people that are on the dole,Tax cars that cost more than 25 thousand extra, Start taxing food after all everyone has to eat.

I do argee on this point. The journey to oblivion was started before Bush. I think the Col was implying more than saying that the tax cuts were unsustainable and exacerbated the problem. This is a problem that he can influence but cannot fix alone.

The foreign policy can of worms I'll leave - the interpretation is up for speculation.

My biggest concern comes from the president's disdain for secondary opinion. He has an agenda and sticks to it. He will ultamately fail.

Slanderer

That does not explain a difference between revenue and expenses of $675 Billion in FY 2005. Even the added cost of the War is only about $100 billion. What we have, now that the economy is overall growing at close to normal rates, a structural deficit in the Feseral Budget of $675 Billion per year. There are only two ways to balance the budget- cut expenses (there are no cuts that will come close to that to the amount required to balance the budget) and increases revenue. revenue can be increased in three ways:

Better collection and close loop holes
Higher GDP Growth to produce more revenue at existing tax rates
Increase taxes ( go back to pre 2000 rates for top 5%)

WHAT WE CAN NOT DO IS CONTINUE WITH THE CURRENT POLICY OF JUST CHARGING THE DIFFERENCE TO THE FUTURE GENERATIONS!

little whip Not True.

For those on joeuser that are math challenged I offer the following:

Per the U S Treasury:

National Debt as of 9/30 in trillions of dollars:

2001 5.870
2002 6.228 an increase of 421 Billion
2003 6.785 an increase of 555 Billion
2004 7.379 an increase of 596 Billion

Please note that the actual increase in the total debt is MUCH higher then the reported annual deficit under the unified budget which lowers the actul amount by combining the current surplus in both the Social Security and Medicare accounts with the federal deficit.

In the year that will end 9/30/05 the expected increase in the total deficit will be close to $675 Billion, up from $596 last year and about $ 250 Billion more then Bush is telling the American public! that will put the total deficit in Sept 2005 at $8.054 Trillion. In Sept 2000, just before the election the deficit was $5.674 Trillion. In five years Bush and his fiscal policies will have added $2.5 Trillion to the national debt. At 5% interest that means you conservatives, as well as the rest of us, will be paying about $125 Billion more EVERY year in interest! HOW DO YOU LIKE THOSE APPLES?

Thank you Prs. Bush for proving once and for all that anyone who relies on Class Warfare arguments does so because they have nothing real to argue!
