Um...I can't 'approve' news postings..


I have news problem too. My news are not being shown up since long.

Have I been deprived off from posting there or is it some server glitch ....... ?

I have been posting news for main page very actively but since last few weeks ... my news have not being seen ... it has happened before that a sever glitch had stopped me from being posting the news.

So as the situation now ... I was just wondering whether I have been deprived off from posting news there or is it something to deal with coding

Is this why I cannot get any display of anything but in the gallery? There it is too small to do any good and all I get beyond yhat is a blank little button. It has rendered your site pretty useless. Is there something in my user level?

Hey T-Man, I found a user with User Level of 1(Unknown). I don't know if it is related but there is an article 'Yahoo locking out email users' in the Internet section that comes up as '... does not exist' when you click on it, so I ckicked on the user's name to try to find it that way. Here's his page:

Black Xero, as I told you on IRC, news is being far more strongly filtered now. I think at this time only server admins have the ability to post news. Whether or not this will change in the future I do not know.

Hi Sir Black Zero, I've been told that while anyone can post news, it will only appear if one of us higher-powered types gives it approval. So it's nothing wrong on your end or with the server.

ThaCater - I read elsewhere that certain firewalls will block stuff on the site. If you're running one, you may want to check that this isn't happening.

I found a user with User Level of 1(Unknown).



Maybe the system doesn't have a way to defer a special user level on someone older than Methusselah

Janitor T-Man:Actually you should not be able to rate. This appears to be a bug. Only User Levels of Subscriber or Access Class of Apprentice on up are supposed to be able to rate.


I have read this Paragraph 5 times and I still would like you to clarify this for me...This is from the wincustomize store section...This is in reference to people using the " free " version..I have purchased Object Desktop and also a few other Suite/ Icon packages on 3 to 4 occaisions...yet I am listed as:
Access Class: Citizen (1)
User Level: CurrentCustomer (4)

This is the Paragraph from the Store section...it would "appear" that I'm supposed to be level (5) If this is not correct then the paragraph needs to be clearer..and state you must have a wincustomize subscription first...because it gives the impression that purchasing Object Desktop from Stardock is sufficient.

~And just to clarify my point once more...this paragraph is located at the bottom after all the listed purchases when you click on the " Store " tab...not signed in..so this is Public information-not just for a member / subscriber
I hope you see where this is not very clear..I have unlimited d/loads and a wincustomize site yet I can't do ratings unless I buy a subscription ? The paragraph doesnt state that....

That is because you are looking in the wrong place. Only your "Access Class" will indicate whether you can rate or not. Since you are a Citizen you will not be able to rate skins. To be able to rate skins you must be a Journeyman or above:

Journeymen
A handful of "super-citizens" will be at this class. These are people who are significant contributors to the community. They can do everything an Apprentice can do but also rate the skins.

As you stated you've only purchased ODNT and a few Premium Packs, this means that you are at Level 4 (Current Stardock Customer). To be a level 5 (Wincustomize Subscriber) you must purchase a Wincustomize.com subscription.

I hope this clears up any confusion. BTW, I'm only a Citizen and (currently) a Past Customer.

Ok,well i know maybe it's still early for this.I Subscribed yesterday and my User Level shows Subscriber (5).Only problem is i want to create a Wincustomize Personal Site and i can't,the form does not Submit,i hit the Submit button but does nothing.I don't know if it's a bug or something,but i surely would like to know what can i do to fix it.Is it a bandwidhth thing,i mean do i need a faster connection to setup the personal site?

It appears recent Microsoft security updates have broken asp.net's RequiredFieldValiditor control.  So we had to use our own validation code.  It should work now.

My User Level is wrong. I'm a current customer, not a past customer.


There are no orders under your account.  You must be using a different account(email address) for making your purchases.

No.  User level has nothing to do with submissions into the gallery.  All that has to do with quality for work, etc etc.

I paid for suscription WinCustomize and my Level continue in Acces 2, no change for Access Level 5?????


There is about a 1 hour delay for your purchase to update your user level stats on WinCustomize. The store is a separate system so we have a job run every hour to update your info.  Looking your are info now I see that your user level has already been updated to Subscriber status.

T-man..I just wanted you to see why its a bit confusing at times. I do understand your trying to update the site constantly...But I'm sure I'm not the only person to be confused by the wording on that paragraph.
