I really like that idea. It would make protection of starbases much more important, since it would not only be lost, the enemy would also reap the benefits of that base.

a certain hull class can invade a starbase rather than destroy it; the rationale being that large ships will have marine detachments et al. to invade.

on ship would just add to micromanagement.

owners. Then the stabase would need to regain a certain number of hitpoints before another could try to caputre the structure, if an attack is attempted before this number is reached the starbase is simply destroyed.

Just my two cents

ace to get your SB working again. So, decisions, decisions...

flexability. Do you wish to risk the starbase fully recovering in a couple of turns but a possibility of capture or just destruction. Sometimes destruction is the best course if there is little hope of holding it.

From a fun factor, I think it could be more fun. At worst, it will be the same amount of boring as world tile management is going to be. Not a whole 'nother kind of boring, as it is now (and that isn't being changed).

er which won't be fun. I'm on the fence with this one.

antities of the required materials to support such a huge starbase.

We won't be having star bases be conquerable. It would create way too many game play changes that we wouldn't be able to see the potential side effects of.

y concerned with having fun. We each have our own idea of what fun is. And that, I respect. I respect arguments that it wouldn't be fun. However, I think the potentional fun with this is significant enough it should be considered.

that it should help the AI out. But I don't know the particulars of your AI, so that's just a guess on my part.

nus associated with the resource.

I build starbases for the functions and bonus they provide NOT to duplicate what I can do on a planet.

in the game. Only what is more fun.

base mining that resourse.

Changing starbases to planets changes their function and lessens the fun for me.
