Bill Clinton is my Hero

Bill Clinton is my Hero

That's my story and I'm sticking to it

Former President Bill Clinton is my personal hero. While in office President Clinton payed off the national debt AND got America back to work. When Clinton was around, he increased the number of jobs and increased the base line for minimum wage. He also funded many education programs and backed up education in the arts.

So what if he liked his winky sucked...don't all men?

Give the brother a break....What didn't you like about the Clinton administration Peace or Prosperity?

*boggle*

Ah, well. I guess because he's a Democrat, you'll just decide he was a hero, no matter your inability to point to anything heroic he did, and my ability to point to a bushels of things he did that Liberals around the world villify him for.

This isn't Repbublican propaganda, this is the judgement of the same folks you quote when you want to slam Bush about his supposed inhumanity.

I hope someone remembers this next time Republicans are called blind followers...

Oh no!!!! Not the LLL label again! For those who don't know lefties have been labeled luddites here; loony lopopy luddites. Thing is, some righties refuse to believe that the word luddite has nothing whatsoever to do with lefties. It just starts with the letter "L". dr NOT miler doesn't get it. Indicative of the rest of his pointedly ridiculous and useless statements.

I agree that Clinton was an excellent president. He is flawed as a man, but what man isn't? It had absolutely nothing to do with how he handled foreign and domestic policies for our country. He got a blow job in the oval office. Big deal. He lied about it. Who gives a shit, other than righties who were looking for something, anything to take him down since the day he was elected.

History will and does remember him as an exceptionally good president, in spite of his flaws. History will not be very kind to dubya. He will go down as one of the worst, if not the worst presidential failures in this nation's history.

Bill Clinton ADDRESSED the problem in rwanda....however, Reagan did not Address the problems in Africa.

Was that a tutu or mini skirt?

Clinton ignored Rwanda.  They did not have a dress on.

Reagan: Supported murderous military Juntas, sold weapons to a mortal enemy and financed right wing death squads. A real sweetheart!

And Clinton did not support right wing Juntas?  And which country was our mortal enemy?  Red China?  The one that Clinton sold Missle technology to?  That allowed them to build ICBMs that could reach the US for the first time?  Your right, Clinton was a real arsewipe.

O, and BTW, if you want to debate something, dont put down "So and so was just stuipid and bad". Oh!  But you cant can you?

Hey doobie!  Luddite means those opposed to technology and human advancement.  What woould you call some clown that wants to push civilization back to the stone age?

So, 200,000 people die between 1992 and 1995 in the Balkans before Clinton finally decides to do something. 800,000 people die in Rwanda... and Clinton NEVER does anything.
That's a million or more people, and you are trying just to slip past it and poke at Reagan? Clinton wrecked himself, he doesn't need "righties" to do it. You think PBS is right wing?

Baker, have pity on the man.  After all, he was a very busy man!  Check out the following link:

Sorry for the brief hijack, but I don't want to get involved in the mudslinging at the moment; however, I wanted to follow up on Bakerstreet's comment:

I stongly suggest you watch the documentary: Frontline: Ghosts of Rwanda.

I would also highly recommend watching Hotel Rwanda for a human look at the conflict. It was just nominated for some Oscars and is in the theatres at the moment (mostly artsy theatres, but I am sure you can find it). It is a movie that everyone should see.

You Righties don' t complain about Rwanda unless you also want to gig Bush for ignoring Sudan.

I mean, since we're talking about genocide in Africa and all.

Bill Clinton gave an important speech on terrorism and how it was the most dangerous thing the world faced -- he gave it in 1998, the same day Republicans in the Senate decided to air over 6 hours of sex chat testimony.

I recently watched "The Hunting of the President," and the speech Clinton gave at the premier (included on the DVD) was better than the film itself. I reccommend it to all of you.

Ken Starr was a GOP attack dog who wasted time and money and could only come up with one instance of perjury after an investigation that started in the Ozarks and ended with a stained blue dress. In the interim, many people's lives were ruined, including people like Susan McDougal who had done nothing wrong. I'm from Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where the McDougals lived and worked, and I've known people in the Arkansas State Government for years. Clinton did a lot for this state, and he took the same sort of moderate ideas to Washington. Republicans felt that after 12 years in power that they were some sort of royalty -- and they tried to destroy the man they thought caused it all.

Clinton's no perfect prince, but he's a brilliant man and was a fine president.

I hope they elect him Secretary General of the UN.

Fine, lets be serious then. Here's what this article claims:

  1. President Clinton payed off the national debt ***(untrue, totally unequivocally untrue. The debt was still in the trillions when he left office)
  2. When Clinton was around, he increased the number of jobs *** (how? please explain the policies that created all these jobs that were really the result of the tech boom in the 90's)
  3. and increased the base line for minimum wage. ***(Since when does the President have any control over the minum wage? Raising that is an act of Congress, a REPUBLICAN Congress at the time, if I am not mistaken.)
  4. He also funded many education programs and backed up education in the arts. ***(Congress funds this stuff, and the President signs off on it. What Clinton did, so has every other President. Care to explain how Clinton did more than anyone else?)

I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. You made these claims, back them up. If you can't, maybe you should rethink the "hero" status.

President Clinton payed off the national debt

Yeah, this one isn't true. You're confusing a balanced yearly budget and a yearly surplus with the entire National Debt.

3 & 4 are also technically true, Congress controls the purse strings. But Clinton supported these things and pushed for them.

Dunno if this is now abandoned, or if she doesn't care that the article cites false information. You guys wanted to stop talking about what Clinton didn't do, and stop dwelling on what he did wrong, fine. Now, lets discuss these perks that supposedly make him a "hero".

I really want to know how Clinton did those things that the article says he did. I want to know how legislative acts by a Republican congress have somehow been accredited to him. At the very least I'd like to see alison correct the point that Clinton paid off the national debt. He didn't.

This is a crappy way to end the discussion. Myr and the rest would keelhaul a Republican for dredging up a bunch of iffy stuff and then strolling away without answering.

I always liked Bill Clinton. I voted for him twice. He made mistakes in his administration like every president does (the most favored trade nation for China after Tiannamen Square really bothered me) but I believe that he truly and genuinely cared about people and that's what made him great in my book.

I don't mind people thinking that Clinton was a great president. What I do mind is that not one Democrat here has a problem with hundreds of thousands of Africans dying, and then they bitch about Reagan "letting African children starve."
Even I can acknowledge Bush's and Reagan's flaws. Seriously, I thought Republicans were the ones with their heads so far up their asses that they couldn't see anything wrong with anything Republican, yet it's Democrats here who are completely ignoring how Clinton did nothing for the people in Rwanda. Why is that? I've only seen one person here who has even implied that Bill Clinton made mistakes. The rest, I see are completely ignoring any mention of Rwanda or lying and pretending that he did something there.
