Moving into PCs would damage their reputation though. One of the best things about owning a Mac is that everything just works, with no fiddling needed. As soon as you bring a Microsoft product into it, there's guaranteed conflicts and problems and all that other stuff that is the very opposite of Apple's public persona. Because of this I think it would be a bad move to have Apple-branded PCs. Maybe if they set up an offshoot company to do it in the same style it'd be fine, but otherwise the risks to the company would be too great.
