To those dickheads who think that it's OK for people to treat other people like this, you're disgusting piles of trash. I would hope that you be on the receiving end of this "non-torture"., but I couldn't even wish it on anybody. You're all a disgrace to the American flag, the American way of life, to any global humanity. These things are not "torture-lite", although I understand the idea that Cactoblasta was trying to make. Moderateman (in particular), may you rot in hell, you sick bastard....>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This lovely fair and balanced opinion was posted by dabe..... as you can see if anyone disagrees with the representaives of the luniticleft this is what you get... trashed , slandered, and prayers for your death..

The whole point of my what is torture post is to say.... we are fighting a people bent on our destruction and play by no rules at all. why do we afford them the courtesy of geneva convention rules when they behead, slaughter and maim innocent people, maybe as cactoblasta said the use of torture is an abomination..

But my opinion is that so called torturelite, if it saves one life is ok, and I am not going to change my mind.

on a side note while some of you folks are crying foul about my thoughts and want to play nice in the sandbox with the terrorist try to remember THEY WILL MAIN , KILL YOU TORTURE YOU JUST BECAUSE YOUR AN AMERICAN... or if your not american but just disagree with them they will also do such horrors to you.your mind cannot imagine it... you will tell yourself ,but i was fair and wanted them to be treated better and with respect and that will not make one iota difference to them... they are bent on the total destruction of democracy. glad to know I fought inna war so I can be called unamerican and a disgrace to the american flag...but then again I fought for the american way and free people to be able to voice there opinions whether i agree with them or disagree with them..

Why can't we kill them? I'm not opposed to a Kangaroo Court, string em up I say. I'm just saying that torture and public executions do two things. 1. Create Martyrs, 2. Create Greater Hatred.

So, since martyrs and hatred are what terrorists thrive off of, the best way to deal with captured terrorists is to make them "disappear".

Cheers

when we "hide" one of them, the left and international community goes nutso. Imagine if they just "disappeared"

I will go "nutso" because this administration disapears outstanding citizens who are not terrorists without reson for some suspicon and no trial. All prisoners should be tried in international court for war crimes or US court under the terror laws, but in a civilian court to give them the rights we owe all people.

I'm not saying we don't tell people we've got them and give them a trial, but if you sensationalize it, i.e. torture, or as a prime example, Abu Ghraib, people get upset.  Execute them for crimes that can be proven, people will accept it.  Or, for that matter, kill them on the battlefield, or "while resisting arrest".  Sure some whakos might cry conspiracy, but then again, a few months ago, there was a serious discussion about "secret prisons" being built disguised as weather stations.

There was a Tom Clancy book based on this premise that they couldn't try them because they could never let the public know the terror threat that was planned so they killed them while resisting arrest.

Wrong plot and or author.  try again.  And I have all of the Tom Clancy novels, so try to make it more plausible this time.

He's right though, there was a Clancyesque novel about that very subject.  Try not to be so mean to people when they are mentioning things.  After all, it's not like he was sugest that we actually do these things.

*sandy2* very specifically said a "Tom Clancey" novel, not a Clancyesque novel . Big difference.

It is a she, and show me where I was mean?  And would you attribute a Steven King novel to Pat caldwell?

No I would not atribute a King novel to Caldwell, and I don't care what gender Sandy is, the point of my post was that I might attribute a horror novel that is written in the style of King to King if I couldn't remember the real authors name.  Just as Sandy, incorrectly, identified a book written in the style of Clancy to Clancy.

Then she should correctly identify the book as written in a "Clancy" style! Because she was very specific.

And if she honestly thought it was a Clancy book?

Then *drguy*'s rebuke stands doesn't it?

I might be wrong on this but. From reading all your posts/replies that you are under the impression that because your a teacher that what you say has to be 100% right, 100% of the time.

And because you are a doctor you feel the same way.

So what is this post? "I know you are but what am I?".

Believe me when I say I find this all very humorous. But let me clear a few things.

I am not a woman, as you may have noticed when posting about "Not willing to have sex with a man".

I was not incorrect when I referred to the Tom Clancy novel, I was merely wrong when I referred to the plot. I should have referred to a sub plot of the book. The book is Rainbow Six, and the sub plot I am referring to in detail can be found in the 880-897 pages. This sub plot involves known terrorist masterminds being intercepted on foreign territory, and taken down after "resisting arrest" by a military paratrooper unit.

Thank you for those of you who came to my defense, lighten up DrGuy, maybe review your material and stop assuming the worst from people, such as that I made up the reference.

Drmiller, I think Jetblackstar was merely saying "I know I am but so are you" or in other words it was a "hey, I think we have the pot calling the kettle black situation here" type of remark.

When an incorrect statement is made, and a correction is offered, why is that being mean?  Just because I told her to make it more plausible was not an insult to her, just a warning that some of us would not take blanket statements as gospel, without accompanying documentation.  If that is being mean, I feel sorry for you as you will have many people being 'mean' to you, especially in your chosen profession.

This is correct, but as you correctly point out, they were not 'feigning resisting' arrest, they were resisting arrest.  It was not a trick to kill them on the spot, but a legitimate operation where they would not surrender.

By your own logic, anyone killed in the commission of a crime was just murdered and the act made to look like an accident.  Hardly what I would call a gracious statement on any law enforcement agency period.

And while I do take offense when mis-quote, I suppose so do authors, especially of their work.  Any wonder that Frank Herbert never allowed Dune to be filmed in his lifetime?  SO I do not see where I have to 'lighten up'.  I did not insult or degrade you.  Andif a slight rebuke is the worst you have ever gotten, then you are indeed a fortunate individual bordering on perfection.

They will? Should we be like them, then? Should we set the proper level or sink to theirs?

Stop trying to justify all the Bush Admin.'s mistakes - they are too numerous. And your rhetoric is too weak.

Bleah!

franks vision could not be put to film I have seen 2 diff films "dune" and they both sucked bigtime... while the book was awsome, thought provoking and a good read.
