more attacks from the left

To those dickheads who think that it's OK for people to treat other people like this, you're disgusting piles of trash. I would hope that you be on the receiving end of this "non-torture"., but I couldn't even wish it on anybody. You're all a disgrace to the American flag, the American way of life, to any global humanity. These things are not "torture-lite", although I understand the idea that Cactoblasta was trying to make. Moderateman (in particular), may you rot in hell, you sick bastard....>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This lovely fair and balanced opinion was posted by dabe..... as you can see if anyone disagrees with the representaives of the luniticleft this is what you get... trashed , slandered, and prayers for your death..

The whole point of my what is torture post is to say.... we are fighting a people bent on our destruction and play by no rules at all. why do we afford them the courtesy of geneva convention rules when they behead, slaughter and maim innocent people, maybe as cactoblasta said the use of torture is an abomination..

But my opinion is that so called torturelite, if it saves one life is ok, and I am not going to change my mind.

on a side note while some of you folks are crying foul about my thoughts and want to play nice in the sandbox with the terrorist try to remember THEY WILL MAIN , KILL YOU TORTURE YOU JUST BECAUSE YOUR AN AMERICAN... or if your not american but just disagree with them they will also do such horrors to you.your mind cannot imagine it... you will tell yourself ,but i was fair and wanted them to be treated better and with respect and that will not make one iota difference to them... they are bent on the total destruction of democracy. glad to know I fought inna war so I can be called unamerican and a disgrace to the american flag...but then again I fought for the american way and free people to be able to voice there opinions whether i agree with them or disagree with them..

yes my friend there issa difference... the left are people of strong ideals and convictions {altho misguided I think sometimes} the terrorist are
MONSTERS. DESERVING OF NO COURTESY AND FAIR TREATMENT.

The fact that we give them fair and decent treatment is what makes us better than them.  If we should ever give that up, we would become like the animals we hate.

The problem is, and this sounds weird, torture isn't an adequate way of extracting any sort of information. Anyone will confess anything under torture to make it stop. As for your comments on terrorists, the people at Gitmo aren't necessarly terrorists, but 'enemy combatants', held indefinetly...I think that violates some of the personal freedom we expouse.

I'm not for torture in any way, shape or form, not at all. The dignity of any creature is unsuitable for causing wanton pain and suffering to it. Maybe they'd torture me if they got my hands on me, and I wouldn't want that to happen, but I'd hope I could be rational enough to recongize despite what they've done, no one deserves the same. "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." -Mathama Gandhi.

There's really not much more to say here. I'm sorry you're upset, and while dabe and I are in the same part of the spectrum, I think she gets a little carried away sometimes in proving a point, and I don't think she meant it entirely personal, MM. (Hopefully not, that's a rather strong curse to say to anyone.) Oh, and Dr. Guy...I don't have the stomach to maim, torture and/or kill anyone.

I'm glad you felt that the best way to help your country was to serve, and I'm sure you did a great job of serving, you did something I wouldn't. I'm not going to applaud you on your war service, not because I'm anti-soldier, because I'm anti-war, but I do recongize sometimes, due to politics or threats, war is a necessary thing, and while humans are still war-like, the military is a necessary evil. Again, kudos to you for serving. I respect that, although I confess I still to this day do not understand it.
I'll wrap it up from Voltaire: "I may disagree with every word you say, but I will defend your right to the death to say it."

Never accused anyone of it. I was asking a clarifying point. Dont feel that every statement made is an attack on you.

You know it's been said before. Treat them nice and they figure they can do what they want when they want. So just were do you draw the line?

Treat them nice?  I'm not advocating that at all, I'm saying throw them in jail or execute them for their crimes.  I'm saying don't mention their names, because what a terrorist wants is to be recognized.  If you think torture works against these people you are sadly mistaken.  They have sworn their lives to their cause and they will not break, primarily because physically violent torture doesn't work all that well, but also because they fervently believe that when they die they will be in paradise.  The best way to deal with them is to simply execute them.  No fanfare, no parades, no torture.  Take them out and kill them.  And then, of course, don't tell anyone about it.

Besides, the question should be, Where do you draw the line when we would be descending to the levels of bestiality that the terrorists themselves use?  Is Evil justifiable if it is being done to further the cause of Good?  If the answer is yes, than you need to rethink your ideals of Good and Evil.

Cheers

I agree with that, I am just trying to point out sometimes what some might consider torture is not reality..

Uh Mod... That's what the statement "to the death!" means.
Let me change the phraseology a bit. "I may disagree with every word you say, but I will defend your right to say it unto death itself.

Yes, but not under the guise of 'for this country' or any other. The right to say what you need to is sacred, even if you do piss me off when you say it.

I know this, but I was asking HER if she would die to defend MY right to be an ass and say anything I wanted too... get me?

Once again, I am not saying we shouldn't fight the terrorists, we just shouldn't lower ourselves to their standards.

To use your metaphor, if someone was beating my brains in, I would stop them, probably break their arm, and throw them in jail.

Sorry but if someone is trying to *beat my brains in* that I am in fear for my life. At which point I'm gonna shoot the SOB!

and there in lies the crux of the problem, if they are prisoners we cannot kill them, but bending floding and putting a dunce cap on there heads ain't a bad plan.

Why can't we kill them?  I'm not opposed to a Kangaroo Court, string em up I say.  I'm just saying that torture and public executions do two things.  1. Create Martyrs, 2. Create Greater Hatred.

So, since martyrs and hatred are what terrorists thrive off of, the best way to deal with captured terrorists is to make them "disappear".
