Groupy 2.15 Beta \ Object Desktop Insider Released

Groupy 2.15 Beta \ Object Desktop Insider Released

We have changed how betas and early releases will be managed and displayed on your account and in Object Desktop Manager.  While some releases will be tagged 'beta' as you have traditionally seen, some now will be in a new 'Object Desktop Insider' section, and lastly, sometimes the same version will appear in both.

Why the change?

This new separation allows us flexibility for offering items explicitly for Object Desktop members.

Does this mean we will not see beta's as frequently?

Absolutely not.  Timely updates to our products will still flow and follow the beta release cadence our clients are used to.

Why would the same version show up as beta and under Insider?

This would be so clients that do not have Object Desktop also have access to an early release should we want all product owners to have it.

With that out of the way, Groupy 2.15 has been released to Beta and Object Desktop Insider today.

Obtaining Object Desktop Insider Builds

Object Desktop Manager

Object Desktop members can get beta and Insider builds from within Object Desktop Manager with 'Enable Object Desktop Insider builds' enabled:

Stardock Download Page

Or via their download page in the ‘Object Desktop Insider’ section

Obtaining Beta Releases

Stardock.com

If a beta was released, Object Desktop Members would see it in the ‘Object Desktop’ section.

Individual purchases would see it on their registration of the product under their download page.

Reporting an issue

Please include the following for anything found:

  • Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe)

  • Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen

  • Screenshots and videos are very helpful.  Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post.  Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.

  • If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions.  If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.

Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Groupy 2 a better product.

After updating from 2.12 to 2.15, Explorer quit grouping opened windows even though it was set to "Automatically group all 'explorer.exe' windows together." I had to roll back to 2.12 and it started working again. I don't know if it has something to do with changes you made to how Groupy 2.15 controls Explorer. I tried ticking "Automatically group all 'explorer.exe' windows together" to off, rebooting, and ticking it back on which did not fix it.

I will reinstall 2.15 later today and test to see if it still will not group.

EDIT: I redownloaded the 2.15 installer and then installed.

Groupy 2.15 still not grouping Explorer or Notepad windows. However, if "Group newly opened windows when the CTRL key is held down whilst opening the new window" is checked, Explorer and Notepad windows group when the Ctrl key is held down.

Let me know if there is anything else you want me to try.

This appears to be fixed in 2.1.5.1

Thanks

Also liking the option to turn off Tab animations.

How can I make disappear the explorer taps?

Got it done!!!

Did a clean uninstall with all settings.

Installes it again, and now it works like wanted!!

Maybe you should give a note that after a new version uninstalling helps to reduce errors. |-)

The 2.15 beta version has the following issues:

Grouping settings - Tabs are displayed in two rows in Explorer even though "Replace tabs in Explorer and Windows Notepad" is enabled.

There were no problems with this setting before the update.

thank you

Do you have any other application that change how the Explorer.exe work. Like Explorerpatcher, WindHawk etc?

After selecting "Do not replace tabs", have you tried choosing "Automatically exclude from auto grouping .....", or unselecting "Always show tabs for this type of window"?

Clicking "Do not replace tabs" will normally display tabs at the top, but the Groupy tabs themselves will disappear.

Are you also using anything which might alter explorer?

I had smiliar issues with groupy.

I did uninstall all extra tools like "winpaletter" or "wallpaper engine" to test if this has impact to my system / groupy 2 and installes some stuff step by step again. Try and error.

Also I did uninstall "groupy 2" and installed it once again. Take a look if you have two installations of it in windows apps.

At the end it helped me to have a smooth running system.

No, nothing is used to alter the explorer.

My first trial of Groupy 2.1.5.1 was done on a Windows 11 beta release. I have since rolled back to the release channel thinking that was the issue. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have had no luck on fixing or diagnosing the separation line on my pc, it remains intact.

My current build is: Windows 11 pro 23H2 22631.3235

EDIT 3/6/2024: Now running 22635.3276; Groupy 2.1.5.1 without issue.

Settings: Integrated tabs; Show all; Rounded tabs; Add a background bar to the tabs = ON; Make tabs background bar taller = ON; Always visible; Replace File Explorer & Windows Notepad tabs; Explorer enhancement settings = all unchecked; no Custom rules

If you install the Beta in a Windows Sandbox on the PC with the issue, can you reproduce it with the Groupy 2 fault settings?  If not, what settings change, either in Groupy or that Windows Sandbox sessions has you then see the issue?

same issue, I'am using Groupy 2.15 beta with Windows 11 Moment 5 Update (22631.3235)

I tried it in Sandbox and it displayed correctly.

Since the February 2024 Windows Update had not been performed, I installed the 2.15 Beta again after it was performed and it appears normal.
The Explorer looks like it has a gradient after the Windows Update, so it may be displayed correctly after this change.
