Did this get fixed as well?

Added the Registry String S11_MenuMode; tried all the values (0,1,2) with no change in the context menus.

(Tried both restarting Explorer and Restating the computer.)

pelaird

Windows 11 Pro - 22635.2700; Start11 Beta - 2.0.1.1

EDIT: Tested and it still doesn't work in 2.0.2.0

Sorry this is because of an error in the change log.  The correct name is S11_MenuStyle not S11_MenuMode.

Great! Works now. Probably a good idea to correct the changelog.

Not really seeing any difference between 0 and 2. What exactly should we expect from colour tinted translucent menus?

Never mind: I figured it out with help from PhoenixRising1

Quoting CardcaptorRLH85,

I don't see anyone else with the issue I'm having right now. For some reason, all Windows system icons on my taskbar (the default Windows Start button [when I have that chosen], the Task View button, and the entire System Tray) are centered at zero height.  Also, some of my other icons get strangely doubled.  I'm attaching a picture to show you what I mean.

My taskbar

I'm running beta 2.0.2 on Windows 11 23H2 (build 22631.2715).

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try this, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after uninstall finished. Redownload Start11 v2.02 Beta, install it. Reboot again, retest and report back.

Thanks
Basj,
Stardock Community Assistant.

This has solved my issue.  However, I realize that I'd forgotten to mention that I also had this problem on the original release of Start11 v2 after I performed an in-place upgrade from Start11 1.4.  Just in case that helps you guys keep this from happening to anyone else.

Hallo Stardock Team,

ich wüßte gerne, bis wann die deutschen Übersetzungen/Sprache komplett in Start11 v. 2.0 umgesetzt sein wird - danke.

Ansonsten gefällt mir das neue Start11 v. 2.0 sehr gut !

Taskbar crashes and missing icons:

I've been using the previous Start11 V2 versions for awhile now on multiple computers; however, the current V2.02 Beta causes issues.  I'm using Windows Server 2022(Basically Windows 10).  When logging into to the computers where installed and the applications are being loaded with some populating the taskbar with icons in the right hand corner, I get screen flashes and the taskbar is wiped of icons several times during initial start of the desktop.

The end result is that once finished many of the normal taskbar icons are missing.

As an update I also experience background flashes during file operations which results in the open windows no longer updating contents.

That's not good.

If you check event log is there anything in there?

Also if you are able to get a dmp file from a crash that would be ideal.

Edit: also what menu style are you using?

I've just seen you can play with reg value for Y offset and rounded radius    noice  Big bar , big radius big Y offset auto hide 🤩

I had a bad experience with ver 2.02 when I first installed it. I lost all of my icons when trying to move things around. I reinstalled 2.01 (2.0.1.1) over 2.02 (2.0.2.0) and did a restart. Everything was back and working fine. I then reinstalled 2.02 over 2.01 and did a restart. I haven't had anymore problems since.

I don't know if it's because you are in Germany, but the latest release version for Windows 11 22H2 is 22621.2715 which was released on November 14, 2023.

In order to get 23H2, You have to turn on the following. (You might have to update to 22621.2715 before this is displayed.)

You would upload it to a cloud drive service of your choice (OneDrive, GoogleDrive, DropBox, etc) and post a shared link here

with newly released 2.02 My icons disappear (becoming completely blank) often as I make changes to the start menu.

With 2.03 So far so good. My icons have have not turned invisible while making modifications. I will post if this changes

I can't remove apps from the "Suggested" or "Recently installed" sections, there's only "hide from apps" option but it's not what I want

The Change Log for 11/13 still reads:

  • Added a new registry key to control the right-click menu style on Windows 11.  It is called "S11_MenuMode" and it has 3 options.  0 = translucent menus, 1 = solid menus, 2 = colour tinted translucent menus

I even cleared the cache in my browser to make sure it wasn't a cached image.
