Known issues

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

• Upon installation, in Add \ Remove Programs, the prior version of Fences and Fences 5 will show.  Example
  
  Uninstalling either will uninstall Fences 5 but one will remain in Add \ Remove.  This will be fixed in future versions. 
  
  
• Layout Spacing & Snapping
  The value is obscured and does not seem to update.  However, if you use the dials to change the value, uncheck \ recheck the box, it will update
  
  
  
• Peek on the taskbar may not function as expected with the Start11 enhanced taskbar turned on
  
  
• Snapshots, on Windows 10 PCs, are not rendering in the Fences UI.  However, clicking in random spots in that section will open them:
  
  
  
• Language localization is incomplete

Snapshots are there and working, but there is no preview thumbnail, visually, just a blank space. Yes, I have done the whole reinstall/restart procedure.

Odd, it does show for me:

If you create a brand new one, does it then show?
If you resize the entire config UI, does it then render them?

I installed the latest Nvidia drivers earlier today and didn't check if the snapshots were there in Fences 4 before installing Fences 5. That may be something.

Let's just see if any other users report the same, and I'll investigate further. Not the right time for me to reboot all the time.

Uninstalled the latest Nvidia drivers and rolled back to v531.68-desktop-win10-win11-64bit. No change.

It's been a while since I have used the snaphot configuration, so this might not be a new issue. And it's not a big deal, at least for me. The snapshots are there after all. I just can't see them.

Edit: I forgot to mention - clicking on the blank area where the snapshots are, opens the dialog box for each snapshot correctly:

On 11 23H2 Build 22631.2506 (although i would assume this happens regardless of windows version) there is an incompatibility between Chameleon and Wallpaper Engine as the transparency effect seems to try blending with the wallpaper, not wallpaper engine, or just have actual transparency.

Have Fences 4 and upgraded to 5.  5 will not activate; tried multiple times, including trying to run install with Admin rights (I'm already an Admin though). 

Error is: Unable to activate Fences. Please try again or contact support. (Error code: -212).

I also disconnected the internet and tried an offline activation.  That gave the error:  Offline Response file does not contain a valid license for this computer).

In light mode, the Options menu for Chameleon mode could be more visible. I didn't notice it at first. Looks a little bit better in dark mode.

Can I request the addition of shortcuts to different page views within the Fences portals? I would like to add a shortcut to my Fences on my desktop page views, allowing me to navigate to a particular desktop page with just a click of the shortcut. Additionally, I would appreciate a taskbar folder featuring a list of pages, enabling me to navigate my desktop pages via a taskbar folder submenu.

For instance, if I have eight desktop pages, I could click on my taskbar folder, and a dropdown would appear with shortcuts to the desktop pages. I would also like the ability to name these shortcuts. For example, if I add a title to a desktop page like "Video and Audio," the shortcut would represent the desktop page containing all my Video and Audio fences.

Start11v2 previously have a good integration with Fences4....

previously Fences4's folder can be added to Start11v2's pinned group....

but the recent Fences5(preview) break that integration....
when can we expect the integration back ?

I feel Fences could really use tabs at the header section in this release. Especially with folder portals

W10 22H2 19045.3570 same nVidia driver as JanOscar, same blank window for layout snapshots. One thing, though: Right click shows the snapshot and date from the oldest to the newest. Definitely a bug with Fences5 W10 and nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 (MSI), latest game/studio driver 546.01.

Fences 5 looks like a cheat to me. I cannot recognize something that's worth paying for a new version, especially for a subscription. A subscription is fair if we get new features and improvements. I saw these up to v4, but not since. I see many requests in this blog which haven't been fullfilled. I will stick with v4!

It most defitely is not that, Stardock does not do that to customers, and it's clear from your comment you didn't even try it! So, tell me why you harbor so much negativity...at least try it before forming an  opinion.

Oh look, now I have to take out subscriptions to Stardock too. You're not serious, are you? Now should I pay for the software every year? Did you copy that from Adobe? Sorry, I'm bitterly disappointed. For me that was it with stardock.

And a permanent license costs OVER €30.00!!!! Shame on you!

You shouldn't be surprised if people start installing pirated copies.

I have a couple of Folder Portals that I made.

I like to have things in details view.

The issue I see is that the view options do not follow down throughout the folders. You have to set that manually for each folder you open.

Yeah, I 1st tested on my AMD \ Win11 box and it was fine.  On my Win10 \ Nvidia box, I can repro it.  

I have created a bug for it.
