Known issues

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

  • Language localizations are not yet complete
  • The rounded taskbar might have some issues with original Win11 for multiline taskbar and we are still investigating the flicker of system tray icons when using the experimental center mode

The auto hide feature seem to use a % of the screen height for detection  instead of  pixel , its a problem since on my 4k monitor (43 inch at 100% scaling ) the task bar show up when the mouse is high so the feature is completely useless since I cant access the bottom part or the app .

this is where the task bar show on my 4k monitor and

where it detect on my 1920x1200 monitor ( scaling 125% )

 version of start 11

Are you using the rounded taskbar mode?

Also you seen to be using an older version of Start11 so I would recommend an update too to the release version.

I'm gonna retry the update procedure tonight. It happens with rounded border yeah. Didn't test it on the not rounded one. Hope the release version is based on pixel and not screen height

I just downloaded Start11 v2.0 to try the new rounded taskbar feature. I have Windows 11 Pro 23H2 and I use auto-hide taskbar, but was disappointed to find rounding doesn't work whatsoever in that mode 😞 Will this be corrected?

Start11 v2.0 Menu is always transparent on my Windows 10 (10.0.19045.3636):

Startmenu

If I set transparency too 100% or 11 % it doesn't change at all:

Transparency 100%

If I enable Mica Startmenu is solid:

Mica Enabled

If I disable Mica then the startmenu is for one time in the correct transparency settings:
Mica disabled, 1 time startmenu shows correct transparency

On the further attempts to open the startmenu it stays like in the first picture. Only switching between Mica on / off shows for one time the correct startmenu.

I had reinstalled Start11 v2 already and used the full removal batch script. Then I rebooted before the reinstall but the behavior doesn't change. Furthermore I use Curtains for Windows theming.

While I have witnessed the following issues on my primary Windows PC (Version 10.0.22635.2700 - Yes Beta), I have also witnessed these very same issues on my work machine which is running 22631.2506 (Non-beta):  (None of these issues are using the rounded taskbar.)

- Opening the start menu causes the taskbar to flash; however only when there aren't any additional windows on the screen.  (I tried with different menu styles, however it was consistent.)

- Sometimes when closing the start menu (usually after opening/closing in rapid succession), the start menu collapses in front of the taskbar.

- When using the snipping tool, after taking a screenshot, the snipping tool hides, however if you re-run it, it re-opens and the picture that you snipped is in the window.  (I thought this was a Windows bug and ignored it for the last year, however after uninstalling Start 11, I found the snipping functionality works fine, so it must be something with S11.)

All these issues with reproduced in 2.0.0.5.

(I have not installed today's release build yet.)

Setup:
W11 Pro 23H2
1920x1080 (100% scaling) Primary monitor (right)
3840x2160 (100% scaling) Secondary monitor (left)

Enable enhanced taskbar + Start 11 autohide mode (disable windows auto-hide taskbar) - NOT using rounded taskbar

Causes the entire desktop to be unusable except the top left quadrant of the 3840x2160 screen. All icons get shifted there, cannot select/drag anything outside of this quadrant. Becomes basically unusable.

Are you running a nVidia card?  546.01 driver set has a problem with transparency and its been throwing up all kinds of crap.  IF you do have an nVidia card  using the mentioned driver try installing 546.08 Hotfix and see if that makes a different.

Absolutely love it. Venturing a suggestion...add the ability to color groups with gradients. :)

You can create a png image and use that as the background.  If you turn off the autotinting the colours will remain as they were in the file.

Wow! I meant a gradient in a tab or a group, not the whole start menu...sorry I didn't specify. If it helps, I was referring to the images here https://forums.wincustomize.com/523617/page/2/#3909237 and making them similar to the wall by adni18. On a separate note, the app is evolving beautifully.

You can set an image on a tab or a group,  It is called background texture under the group appearance menu.

On a full screen start page, the task bar doesn't remove the rounded edges

A good point as it does fill the screen so it should.  Will get that fixed for a future update.

Hallo,

Horst

If you do a screenshot (print-key), no full screen windows, the margin of the rounded task bar decreases. If you don't do the screenshot, but press ESC or close instead, the taskbar goes to no rounded corners. After moving the mouse a little bit, it goes back to rounded corners.
