Known issues

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

  • Start menu folder groups need a manual refresh (right-click) if new files are added to a folder.
  • Adding a network drive as a taskbar folder group may render inconsistently and hinder menu open speed.
  • WindowBlinds skins will not skin the new styles
  • Language localization will be very spotty (good in some places, bad in others).  This will improve over time and as we approach a general release.

Quoting djc5166,

Have seen this bug for awhile, but only recently pinned down how to reproduce it.

If you are currently in the right click dialog menu on something on your start bar, then any new windows notifications are shifted to the current right click menu (instead of in the bottom right corner).

Here GHub posts a notification when you change the mouse DPI so it was easy to reproduce, but this happens with any notification and any program's right click menu.

Still not addressed.

So to be clear, to see \ reproduce this:

  • One has to be in the act of right-clicking a taskbar item
  • At that very same moment, the \ any app has to be receiving a system \ toast notification?

I tested it with that understanding and did not have the same results

Perhaps this is intentional.

When the 'Draw Icon on the Left' appearance option is selected, folders created by combining pinned apps together are displayed without an icon. Folders pinned by browsing the computer do not have the issue.

Not at the very same moment, notifications stick around for 5-10s or so?

Right clicking anything on the S11 managed task bar while the notification is out moves the notifications box to where you clicked. And it stays misbehaving even after that. It is very odd, sometimes they are stuck there until reboot, sometimes the side tray stops working all together.

Reproduced on at least 4 machines since my post under v1.27.

It's just I don't believe we have ever had such a report, djc5166.

I have updated my post with my tests.  Tell me what I need to do differently to reproduce it.

Do you have ANY other software \ modifications that acts on the taskbar; Explorer Patcher for example?

I don't think teams notifications behave the same way, I don't get the shift when its a teams notification. Maybe because of the extra quick reply box? I didn't notice that before.

No other software. I even try this again whenever I reformat/reinstall windows or setup a new machine. Clean install with just S11. Same behavior all the way back since 21H2.

So perhaps this is unique to a G Hub app \ notification?

It happens with everything else that I have, ghub, onedrive, corsair icue, discord, teamviewer. I guess teams itself is different somehow.

Try right clicking after the notification is already up?

Win10 was fine...

Win11, I could repro it, however.

I will log it.

Great!, I thought I was going insane here. Thanks for looking into it.

Sometimes it also messes up the whole 'notification tray' afterwards, where it will expand out to wherever you had right clicked. But I wasn't able to consistently reproduce that. Only way to fix the tray when that happens was to restart explorer/reboot.

Initially it was barely even an issue, until the tray decided to shift too.

Hi, does the new version allow the taskbar to be placed at the sides of the screen, and arranges correctly the icons doing it so?

Thanks

active with start11 v1.47 key please.

Start11 v2 requires a Start11 v2 key.  This is a paid upgrade from 1.x unless purchased since 1st October 2023.

I would like to suggest an option for the New pin menu to add link. Pinning files and folders of course but adding an internet link or website requires me to first create a new shortcut to the site and then pin that shortcut.

The 5x Pack Start11 upgarde is working, the 10€ for 5 Upgrade licenses is fair. The new Windows Pro Style is my favourite.

As i'm using a central start on a bottom taskbar, some glitches are still there, like in 1.X. Some menus still opening from bottom, i assume they are too hard coded in the Windows code.

Might I also suggest having a "Pinned" tab group that would always show on every page.

the issue i reported Start11 v2.0 Public Preview Feedback Thread has not been addressed or answered, and the problem still persists after installing the release version

Issue -

of the 7 choices of the start menu options in start 11, none of them works after I click and enable them

its just my original start menu, no change is applied no matter what I do

Windows version -

Windows 11 22H2 22621.2428

Screenshot - start menu appears as default windows one, despite enabling the windows 7 menu in Start 11 (i blurred the icons), same thing occurs when selecting other start menu types

Steps to recreate the issue seen -

Start 11 > Start Menu > enable (any option)

Version - Start 11 2.02

i tried clean uninstall, windows restart etc

i feel like I am being scammed at this point, where a major feature of the software is not working and there is no support or whatsoever

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Can not reproduce your issue. Start11 V2 1.02 run fine on my Windows 11 refer screenshot below.

Let's try to see how to resolve your issue. First, please try this, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately. Re-download latest Start11 V2 1.02. Install it, reboot again, and report back. Also you have any other 3rd party application installed on your system that might interfere with Start11 such as ExplorerPatcher, StartallBack etc?

Thanks
