Frogboy Weekend: May 2023

Hey guys, so every weekend I'll be taking the team's work and then integrating ideas and feedback from you guys so that we can can get a new beta build going in the following week.

I'll be reporting my progress here but feel free to add your own notes.

I'll also be on Discord here: https://discord.gg/galciv so feel free to join the GC4 Commons area.

Another issue that has been reported in earlier builds but still exists in Supernova is upgrading a scientist to a Quantum Physicist on your home planet.  Doing this decreases your total research output instead of increasing it. I did notice that my approval dropped by 1%, which probably caused the Research drop by negating the gain of upgrading to Quantum Physicist.  I don't see any warning about Quantum Physicists not being welcome on home planet due to higher risk }:) This only happens on my home planet.

I still want quality of life improvements. You guys seem so focused on new features that this is often neglected.

Examples include ship management (making and splitting fleets) and loading ship designs (in the ship designer).

Could the UI be fixed so that a players current settings are locked and not changed by patches/ upgrades I have watched the intro video and do not care for the sound effects and play my own music. Also having to reset all the map settings is a royal PitA.

I'm working on AI and balance. That's what I do on weekends.  The idea is to check out the forums and see what sorts of things I can work on.

I looked into this and it's because they have various special resource needs that I think are a bit buried. If they don't have spice, for instance, they get unhappyw hich reduces their output.  I've removed this because this is way too detailed for something like a citizen.

I'll ask.  For testing, we generally have it where we reset things so that we have a QA base line.

Update:

You can skip the cutscenes by adding SKIPCUTSCENES to the command line.

I updated to the latest patch before my last post in this thread however I booted up to play the "patched" version after posting it, the settings did not change.

TLDR the last patch did not change the settings.
