Controls/micro or lack of.

Brilliant so far guys,  you have done yourselves proud. I'll do a proper feedback after a second campaign at a harder difficulty.

However, given how well the Flak frigates take out the missiles and different ships deal with each other it seems a shame that there is no side bar to properly manage the fleets, I cannot group fleets Ctrl+ 1 etc and I can't select all of one ship type, this hampers the superior combat.

Also Garrisons, great, OP but great, but please mark them differently like in Sins 1 it's difficult to tell the difference between them and normal fleets.

This is going to be a masterpiece if we work together on this.

I played yesterday and i could do ctrl+1 but i've seen other post saying the same as you🤔. It may be an error instead

Yeah I now know the controls. So if a mod wants to delete this post please do.

However a post with the keybind list would be useful?! As they are different to Sins 1.

Well, I find that garrison defense ships are grouped on the bottom bar, along with you planet defense structures, while your fleet is grouped in the left bar. Its far from perfect, but for now it allows you select your fleet without selecting any of you garrison.

I'm on the edge of whether garrisons are over powered. I like the idea that garrisons can hold their own. However, 800 logistic (fully upgraded) points for a terran class world is a lot. Its nearly half the max fleet size. If you were playing defensively, keeping your fleet at your terran world, you'd be able to kick the butts of anyone invading your world. And this is before starbases are added.

On the other hand, its really expensive to bulk up your forces this way, and I think you need idle shipyards to build your garrisons. Also, you can't build this stuff at the start. You need to research techs to get the garrison slot option, and then you need to research even more techs to improve them (as I recall, they start at 100 logistic points per slot but eventually upgrade to 200 with the right techs).

I understand what you are saying about Garrison troops, they are pretty powerful.  On the higher level games though, they really are necessary to help defend your planets because the AI sends so many frigates at you.

There is a way to Micromanage your troops even without the grouping or selecting of one ship type.  Set the time zoom to .25. This slows the battle down to a point where you can micromanage different ships to different targets and manually group them up.  This works well on higher levels.  I'm currently playing on Nightmare level and slowing down the battle makes a difference.
