As I upgraded from version 1.1 to 1.12 it was unpossible to administer the taskbar configuration due to an error message, like 'you already have something else managing...' I did not found any way to shut down this message. How can I avoid this error message?

You would need to disable whatever tool you are using which has enabled a Windows 10 style taskbar on Windows 11.

If you keep whatever it is enabled then you cannot enable the enhanced taskbar features of Start11 as they are designed to work on the Windows 11 taskbar,

All the existing features of Start11 1.1 you had continue to work, this only impacts the new ungrouping features of Start11 1.2.

I have three monitors in a 3-1-2 orientation, and screen 3 (far left) is vertical.

On that screen, the portion of the taskbar that shows apps is only about 33% of the space it should normally be:

On this screen, I currently have about 10 windows open, but the taskbar only shows 2.5, and then another 2.5 when the taskbar is scrolled.

I also notice:

- pop-up controls, like in Spotify where the pause button shows by hovering the app's taskbar icon - those don't appear.

- The section of the main taskbar at the very far-right that minimizes all windows - is also not present.

- clicking the clock sometimes works, and sometimes does nothing (both right and left click).  at times, it works on one screen and not the others.

Screens are all 100% scale, 1920x1080 (Recommended) [ with one being 1080x1920 (Recommended) ].

Hello!

I have updated to Start11 v 1.2, OS Windows 11 21H2, 22000.593.

Whe I enable taskbar enhance option and try to horizontally center taskbar icons, Start icon (with search, tash view,...) stays on the left. I have tried ForceMiddleMenu registry option but it does not help. Below are two images of the problem. Thank you for you help in advance.

This is normal.  If you use the enhanced taskbar setting you cannot centre the start button.  You can centre the pinned / running task taskbar buttons but not the start button and search, taskview, and teams buttons.

In the configuration screen on the taskbar page and on the start button page the option to centre the start button is greyed out and it notes under it that this is not supported with enhanced taskbar being enabled.

I have a single laptop screen 3840x2400 225% scale. And yes, I am sure. I tested it after installing the release. But, I just tested it again and now it is working just fine.

Thank you Neil and your team. You have done a great job in making the Windows 11 experience better. I am counting around 5 months of development on Start 11 which is a lot of commitment. It has been fun watching this program grow and develop over the months and it is going to be weird not leaving feedback and anticipating updates to develop it further. I expect there will still be an update in May once Microsoft releases its annual update but it looks like in large this is a completed project.

I am curious on what you plan on working on next?

Hi all,

I'm running Windows 10 21H2 Build 19044.1620 and Start11 1.2 - I have three monitors at 1920x1080.  Everything was running fine when WindowBlinds was installed but when I uninstalled it the position of the start button/menu will not center on my second monitor.

I can toggle the settings in the Start11 config and monitors one and three respond.  System has been rebooted/shutdown several times and the software reinstalled as well.

I too would like to have the possibility to put the central start with the icons of the open programs so large that you can immediately understand which programs are open ..

But by activating that option the start does not move from the left :(

a real shame ... having a 21: 9 monitor I no longer find myself having the start on the left

I rebooted after I installed 1.2 release. Then while I was working, I opened a couple of programs and that's when it happened. After I got the response, I tested it again to provide a screenshot and it worked fine.

After installing v1.2:

- start menu not responding at all

- taskbar with offset from bottom of screen

- another addional offset for startmenu button

- missing localization almost everywhere

- taskbar alignment only left, center position not working anymore

Start11 is totally screwed up now.

How can you release such crap?!

What version of Windows 11 are you using?

It also looks like you enabled the option to enhance the taskbar?  If so you cannot centre the start button.  This is noted in the UI in multiple places and is not a bug.  If you disable the option to enhance the taskbar then you can put it to the middle as you used to.

Localization is being updated and there will be an update once the new strings have been translated.

Completing localization was always going to come after the main release.  I will add it to the 'known issues', however.

As you can see from the changelog, there were several betas over many many weeks - each with its own feedback tread totaling hundreds of responses. What you are experiencing is not typical of any of the later betas.

What I might recommend is another resinstall \ reboot.  Should that fail, a purge and reinstall.  Note: The latter will remove any and all Start11 settings, including any pinned items you had prior:

Purge \ Reinstall:

Please let us know how the effort goes.

Congrats on the 1.2 launch! I hope it brings many exactly what they are looking for. I also appreciate the rebuild for better support and working around Microsoft's crazy! Should be worth the effort I think and put you in a great position going forward!

I just wanted to report for my use, I will be holding back at 1.11 so I can keep Quick Launch toolbar support. As soon as that can make it back in with small icon support I would be back. For others who might be in the same boat, I am using Start 11 1.11 with ExplorerPatcher by Valentin-Gabriel Radu with great results, but would love to bring it back "home" to Stardock. I totally understand there are other more important priorities but just wanted to toss in my 2 cents for some feedback. Rock on Stardock crew!

I understand that Insider versions are not officially supported, I'm on Windows 11 22H2 22581.200.

Even when on this version expanding the right side of the dock worked, it stopped working around the last 2 versions.

This area can't be interacted at all if I activate "Let Start11 enhance the taskbar", which is a feature that brings back many Windows 10 options that were removed in Windows 11. Everything else works with Start11, I have to turn this function off in order to be able to expand the icons in the area for now.

Again, I understand Insider versions are not a priority but I just wanted to inform you of this issue.

Thanks for the support!

Did you use previous beta releases of Start11?  If so can you uninstall, REBOOT and reinstall 1.2 as this issue should have been fixed.

Also do you have more than one monitor and if so what is the layout?

Windows can also be updated. Version 22593.1.0 is now available.

The current bugs on the Beta/Dev build are transparency issue's and texture issues in the taskbar. Otherwise the build does work decently with start 11.

This should not be the case, I have have the windows 11 beta as well and interaction with the right side of the dock is still functional.

A couple of things you could try.

1. update Windows. Version 22593.1.0 is now available.

2. Uninstall start 11 and then reinstall from the "my download" link on your profile

The current bugs on the Beta/Dev build are transparency issue's and texture issues in the taskbar. Otherwise the build does work decently with start 11.

Thank you very much, I uninstalled/restarted/reinstalled Start11 and now it's working. It didn't occur to me since I've never had any issues while upgrading from a previous version.

Thanks again!
