Using the latest version of Start11 (2021-11-20)

Start11 causes file explorer to crash/restart constantly, which means that the taskbar, start menu, and other things crash as well.

Yeah that TPM requirement is a pain for sure. Probably the biggest thing holding windows 11 back imo.

If all else fails you can log in to their website and pick up from #4 in my instructions by dropping the file into the webpage (drag and drop).

the website is here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/onedrive/online-cloud-storage

I have waited one week and there's no any response from stardock regarding my request for refund. Do you guys actually have a customer service or not? It is just a small amount of money. But this does not feel good. You have a refund policy, but do you honor it?

Did you submit a ticket or email?

Do you have your ticket ID number? (it would be SSN-#####)

Well the crashes have quieted down, but start 11 does not appear to do anything other than control the start layout old new and 2011 type views.  Hope SD can fix it.

ok. Refund is processed. One suggestion: You may want to add a warning to the user of Dragon NaturallySpeaking that start 11 will conflict with Dragon.

Umm it also does NOT function properly with Win 2010 and I dont use Dragon This is purely Win 10 ver 21H2 and Start 11

I can Send a DXXDIAG if you need to  fix start 11.

Using latest version. Did a search - crashed. This has been happening for a while now.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. What version of Windows 11 you're on? Is it preview/Beta version? And have you try version V1.24?

I've updated to the latest - 1.24. I wasn't aware there was an update and Start11 never automatically informed me

In saying that, now I've restarted my laptop the transparency has changed and I want it back to how it was. I see there is an option in Start 11 to change this but I don't know what it was before the update.

Also I come to this support forum this morning to post the above and find something in my cart - Start11 Upgrade. I never selected that to be placed in my cart so why is it appearing there? I've removed it but in future, don't put things in my cart without my permission.

Regarding the colour of the taskbar, I turned on 'Use automatic color for the taskbar' and that's settled things to how they appeared pre-update.

Well that didn't last long. With the setting still on, the colour of the taskbar has reverted back to what it changed to after the update. Switching the setting off then back on again doesn't do anything.

What we would need is a dmp file from a crash.  Using that information we can then debug the issue further to see what is the cause.

Is what you are trying to report: The "enhance start 11 taskbar" does not turn on? I want to make sure I am clear on your issue

It runs the process but there is very  little in the way of functionality, the icon cannot be changed, you can sort of get the task bar left aligned, but some times switches to centered, you can change between classic and windows 11 styles of start menus but it is not too consistent either.  Hmm I see now there is another update so I will install that and try again

'what style of search did you use'? I typed a program name in the search box when clicking Start. That was v1.22. I'm now using 1.24 and having issues with the colour of the taskbar.

EDIT: use old start 10 style search is on.

My issue is not with search it's the look of the Start Button Icon on the task bar...it cannot bve change anylonger, the colors of the task bar and other non search functions

I am using Ver. 1.24 on Win 10 21/H2 and no Dragon sftare installed ever.

Make that five times now. Within the last min tried to searcha  program - crashed. Reloads. Search again - crash

To avoid this you can set search mode to not use Start10 style.  The issue will go away as search for that mode is handled in its own process.  The start10 style option is there primarily for corp use and should return the same results as Start10 rather than taking advantage of the enhancements added in Start11 such as out of process search, faster results, better results etc.

We believe this is being triggered by a third party shell extension getting upset.  If you are able to provide us dmp files from a crash we can investigate this further.  Instructions on how to do this are in the FAQ.

I would uninstall Start11, reboot and then reinstall it as something is very wrong there.

It almost sounds like Start11 isn't running at all assuming you are not running something like Stardock Curtains or WindowBlinds which would override the colour of the taskbar and the start button icon.
