Dear Support, dear All,
1. do you have a simple/clear feature comparion list from "Fences 3" vs. "Fences 4"?
2. I own "Fences 3". Is then "Fences 4" a free or paid update?

The main differences are. 1. Fences is a little faster on startup. 2. Windows peek. 3. Rounded corners and other slight changes to go with Windows 11. 4. Biggest one is here, Fences 4 will be getting more updates in the future. Fences 3 is officially retired and what you have is what you get..
Stardock seems to have their development cycle to mirror Windows. Since Windows 11 is new I suspect Fences 4 will be the main program for somewhere between 5 - 7 years until Windows 12 comes out. Also, since Windows 11 came out, they probably figured it was the natural stopping point for Fences 3. So far the changes are pretty small between 3 and 4 but I am guessing they will eventually come back to Fences 4 and release some updates as there are a lot of ideas floating around how to improve it further.

I have recently upgraded from Fences 3 to Fences 4, but the version number of Fences 4 is 3.9.8.44. Have I downloaded the correct version as I would have expected the version number to be 4.x.x.xx

That is the correct current version. And, I believe the Full release version will be in V4.xx format.

Installed Fences 4 as I had been using Fences 3.
Fences 4 messed up my desktop., it was an immediate uninstall. I am going back to 3.
Also the uninstall or Fences 4 had issues.
Fences 4 is available now at Beta level for people to assist in its maturity to full Level release.
This is commonly done to maximize exposure to as varied as possible systems/uses to eliminate bugs/issues properly prior to full release.
If one does not wish to engage in the testing process one should wait until full level release.
If issues are found it will only aid with the full release to post information of what is encountered with your system, along with details of the system [and OS].
Both the release version number and the word 'Beta' should be sufficient for people to understand that personal results may vary...;)
I am running Fences 4 on a clean install of Windows 11 Pro, and it is working perfectly. Originally I did the Windows 11 upgrade from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro and had many problems such that I decided to do the clean install of Windows 11 Pro. After doing the upgrade for instance, Fences 3 did not work properly. I would click on configure Fences, and nothing would happen. My existing Fences worked okay, but I could not create any new ones. Other software such as Amazon Photos would not work, or re-install, but works perfectly on the clean install version. I am not sure why the upgrade to Windows 11 did not work, but after doing the clean install Windows 11 is blisteringly fast, and all my software works perfectly including Fences 4.
angiemike6 ...that's good to hear...but remember Windows 11 is too new to be reliable, though I am yet to install it on a machine. When I do it won't be this one...my prime/work machine. THAT one is still on Win 7 as I still cannot trust things not to fail even on 10 ...;)
Is fences 3 going to work on windows 11?
Id also like to know if theres anything usefull in Fences 4 worth upgrading.

As for differences between Fences 3 vs 4. Since V4 still in beta there is no official change log for Fences V4 yet. One new function that I can see is able bring Fences to the front of Windows via keyboard Hotkeys.

I have a couple product keys of Fences 3, each with 5 activations .. It seems the upgrade is only available for a single activation?
If I do the upgrade will I still have 5 activations per product key? Or will there be an upgrade option coming for multiple activation keys?

After reading the changelog, Fences 4 looks a update not a upgrade.
So, giving 20% discount is far to less.

I cannot get past the purchase process to obtain Fences 4. It has items on it that I cannot remove. Tech help is no help for purchasing problems. I simply need to know how to get in touch with ANYONE at Stardock to resolve my screwed up purchase order. Also, is Fences 4 really ready for purchase and use?

Sorry to hear you are having issues.
In your cart to the Left right next to the item is a small gray " X "
click on that to remove any item from your cart .
If you need to get in touch with Support you need to create a Ticket

tanqimin's question is important. I'm sorry but on the faq, the answer is not clear :
if I upgrade from Fences 3, I still have 5 activations or 1 activation ?
You will only receive 1 activation per upgrade. They now enforce a one device per license policy and they have stated that this policy has always been in place but has never been enforced until start 11 and Fences 4 came along.
So an unenforced fences 3 with 5 activations attached to 1 license will be upgraded to the, as they state, enforced 1 activation for 1 license on the Fence 4 upgrade as has always been intended in their eula.
Thanks PhoenixRising1 for your answer, I always though the licence was bound to the user, as I use Fences on my main computer and my laptop... So, if I want to use Fences 4 on my 2 computers, then I will have to buy 2 licences
