If you use the desktop icon that comes with the install, it'll run Epic. However, if you go to where the game is installed, and run GalCiv4.exe, then it'll run without epic. At least thats what happened after I ran a few tests on it.

However, if you're having any issues with internet, then maybe the Alpha isn't for you.

I play all my Steam games offline.

My problem is I only get 20 GB of data a month when that is gone it throttles back to the old dial-up speeds of the 90s.

So if I can play off line then every thing is Golden.

Your answer seems to confirm that I can do this so off to Epic I will go.

However it will be at 0200 hrs my time tomorrow when I am in my 6 hour window of 50GBs per month.

Here is an informed answer.

YES

I just verified this.  First, you need to be onliine and logged in to Epic.  Go to Settings and make sure "Enable offline Mode Browsing" is checked.  You can then exit Epic.

When you run Epic without being connected to the Internet,  you will be allowed to log in and run GalCiv4 without a problem.

NOTE:  The current size of the alpha is 10GB.

Many thanks to both of you, the size does not surprise me that's why I download games between 0200 & 0800 hours when I have 50 GB as opposed to the 20 for the rest of the day.
