Sectors with no core world targets.

Anyone else encountered a sector with no planets over class 3?

Yes. I tried making one a core world, but I didn't get much out of it.

From what I recall, colonies can't transfer resources to core worlds in other sectors. The decay is 100%.

Nothing says you cant make a core world out of a class 1. If you want to control the sector use mining/influence combo starbases which will control the sector and get your ship ranges vastly extended.

I have found class 8 precursor planets, I would priority rush to colonize those and link up all the class ones to it in those sectors.  I have that now in a game. I would go so far to say I would colonize a class 7 average world with 'meh' resources ( I think the one I am headed to is 2-1-0-4) and put a starbase on top for help and asteroid miners and make it a 'minor' core world.

Even with Habitable Planets set to Abundant, and Extreme Planets set to Uncommon; I've only found 1 habitable planet over Class 4, twice in 8 playthroughs. Except Extreme Planets of course. My current playthrough I found 1 clear across the sector. Of course I left my Survey/ Flagship there to guard it, until I could get a Colony Ship there (20 turns). Maybe a Frequency option in setup would help?

In my first play through I set size to medium had one planet of better than three to send my colony ship to as of the twelve or so stars in the system five were occupied by enemy faction at least three being majors.  I am not sure if the fourth and last major was in this sector as my fleet was destroyed by monsters at least three of which were present.

I would like to test this game but I was under the impression that this was a 4X game not a FPS.

Hope the map editor is out soon so I can place opponents at reasonable distances.

This having opps in three of the five closest stars is not typical of the franchise. I thought at first that the opps beelined for me as was typical for GC2 and not uncommon in GC3. Ran into the first about turn five, they were headed to colonize Mars. It was fortunate that my survey ship was near enough to intercept them.
