Ship Design - mass limits missing

In the GC3 ship designer module, the total available mass for components, was displayed for a given ship. You could try adding attack, defense, or other modules, until you went over the available mass limit. You could tell by mousing over each component, if it would fit on the current build.

In the GC4 ship designer module, I do not see an indication of the  total available mass for components, and a rating for each available component as to its mass.

I can just blindly click on a component to attempt to add it to the selected ship, until I get a message that the selected part is too heavy for the current ship design, and that I must remove another part.

What am I missing, or has the ship and component mass concept, not yet been added to GC4?

Thanks

At the moment, the ship designer seems to have been simplified. Tiny ships get 1 slot (good for a weapon) and cargo hulls get 5 slots. Some modules, like a colony or constructor module, seem to take up 3 slots. This will probably make mass reduction techs obsolete. I wonder if we will get techs that increase the number of slots ships of different sizes might have (for example, one tech for tiny hulls might get a +1 to capacity, while another tech might give 3 to cargo hulls).

Thanks for that info, DivineWrath. Do tiny ships have one slot for defensive modules too? I haven't researched defensive modules yet.

Does anyone know how many slots of each type that a small or medium hull has: weapons, defense, other, special.

DG551, Small get two slots total, medium get 5, large get 10.

Carrier modules take 3 slots.

For the money your best bet is to use the fleetwide defenses as they currently stack with each other. Thus a small with 1 weapon and 1 defense (pick armor) will stack with another small with a different defensive type (such as beam defenses).

Strange. In my last game, medium got 6 slots. Maybe you were thinking of cargo hulls. They got 5 slots. They've got hit points at the moment, so they could be made as actual combat ships.

I still only have tiny hulls at turn 387. I have no idea what to research to get better ships.

It took me forever to get the tech for small hulls last game. We need that tech tree out asap. I was on turn 500 and still did not have medium hulls. Also, I am having trouble finding a tech for shields. I'll keep playing that game off and on until I research the whole damn thing. This is a huge tech tree which I love. I just need to used it and I will be fine.

I agree make this random crap an option I can shut off.
