Quoting ALMonty,

Should I even bother? The last update ruined Edge for me again. Against my better judgement I updated to 10.88 and it turned Edges titlebar back to default. Even did a system restore and that didn't help. Maybe fixing Firefox messed with Edge.

I guess it's Curtains for me.

That doesn't sound like something that was a change in WB, more likely it was an update in Edge which now defaults to starting up on bootup so it seems quicker to load.  Something that used to be in fashion in the past.  Doing so means it ignores the flag to start supporting custom titlebars.

The fix is to disable that feature in edge settings and then reboot.

That wasn't it, nothing was changed in Edge. Chrome has the same settings as Edge and that's not skinning either.

Thanks anyway

Ok, got Windowblind 10.8.9.0 (Beta) installed, seems to be working fine, Chrome, and Firefox skin just fine, Edge does not skin at all, don't know why....just my 2 cents. |-)

Gonna post this again since it keeps getting ignored since june of last year....

Taskbar toolbars change depending on weather you use light mode, dark mode, or a mixed mode. It causes them to shift downwards or go semi transparent on button text for those toolbars. It also affects the taskbar buttons. It will not load the button press colors. Its been an issue for a really long time now. Hopefully it can be looked at.

The other issue is when using vista styled start buttons. They get cut off on the top or bottom of the orb depending on weather its on the top or bottom of the screen. They have not worked since upgrading to windows 10. I know its possible to do as classic shell and startisback allows for loading of those types of start orbs.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you tried WB10.88 or 10.89 on this one?

Thanks

Still not skinning.

So why it works properly with my Windows 21H1.  In my opinion you must to do something wrong.

It does so on the latest windowblinds. Its been doing it for a year now. Hopefully it can be looked into as its annoying. I use toolbars a lot...

I don't see it on the WB v10.88. I might be looking at the wrong place.

Thank you,

The issue was resolved in WB 10.88.

From the change log : "

  • Resolves an issue with items on the links bar (when set to show on the taskbar) when in light taskbar mode picking the wrong theme part.

Hi, me again **not to over-post anybody**, I noticed a skinning issue that happens with pretty much every skin that I use, and i'm not sure if its just because of faulty windows 10; Whenever I open explorer and shiftclick explorer again (opening a second time), I get a black bar on the command bar..

Also sometimes, in the left top corner, there will be some sort of whitish box in a window (I don't know how to recreate the problem but it usually happens frequently.)

I have never got Edge to skin. How is it done in the Edge settings? Do I also need to install Chrome? MS Edge is installed?

I've seen this before, but I believe if you enable the menu bar it goes away. That's part of the ribbon showing (it would be white if you have the "light" theme enabled). I first noticed it when Microsoft did a change to the height of the top glass area several versions back.

fwiw-

I uninstall old, reboot, install new, reboot.  Afterwards I noticed my Chrome links (with the -disable... switch) weren't getting Chrome skinned.  My WB setting "Allow WB to skin Chrome..." was still enabled, but I looked at the Per application exclusions and the Chrome exclusions were there.  Don't know for sure that I had deleted them on the previous version (Chrome was getting skinned).  Anyway I deleted them and Chrome skins.

The exclusion surprise in Reply 42 seems to have been the result of WB now sharing the exclusions between logons.  Don't know if that was intentional (or even for sure that it's totally new), but it does seem to be what it's doing now.  I'm ok with it either way.

Apparently, WB Beta 10.8.9.0 is not supported for WIN 7 Pro (See DS Beta thread #3).

I installed it over WB 10.87, with many resulting problems.  With WIN 7 Pro, it kills the functionality of DS 10.02 / 10.03.  It first prevents images from being applied, then it will not allow DS to stay open.

I tried to update DS, only to find that it is incompatible with Win 7 Pro.

I uninstalled, then "purged" (most recent purge versions on site) both WB Beta 10.8.9.0 and DS 10.02 / 10.03 then reinstalled both WB 10.87 and DS 10.02 / 10.03.

After multiple restarts and tweaks, DS works fine but WB 10.87 is now only marginally functional.  Many skins no longer work properly.  Font resizing is flaky - BUT the most annoying problem is that most skins will not allow file/folder name visibility (in Windows Explorer) WHEN RENAMING THE FILE.  When the user starts to edit the file/folder name (once the user moves the cursor within the name) the name becomes nearly invisible.  Some of the "AERO" based skins do not have this problem (i.e. Clay, Metals, Recycled & Wall).

However, the vast majority of other skins, which worked perfectly before exposing them to WB Beta 10.8.9.0, no longer work.

Is there a way to repair these skins so that they do function properly with WB 10.87?

Thanks

Have you enabled glassy explorer backgrounds as that could explain the problem.

There have been no changes in WB to impact Deskscapes or win7 so things should work as they did before.

What do you mean by font resizing not working?

I no longer can find the setting for "glassy explorer backgrounds".

The WB Beta 10.8.9.0 does impact DS, and even after uninstalling and purging  both WB and DS, and reinstalling version WB 10.87, WB no longer functions properly with Win7.  (Also, as noted in my comment in the DS Beta 3 thread (https://forums.stardock.com/505115/page/1/#3809131) DS is no longer compatible with Win 7 - see replies 3 thru 5.)

(The reinstalled DS10.02 / 10.03 works fine with WB 10.87.)

The logical conclusion that I have reached is that WB Beta 10.8.9.0 changed some of the settings in the styles that I attempted to apply while trying to use it, before I uninstalled and purged it.  (This is obviously something that a "purge" cannot fix.)

Font resizing, especially in Windows Explorer, now requires closing that window then reopening it (which was not required before, the changes simply changed as the skin was applied) & the sizes are now fairly unpredictable;  some components change, others do not.  In the Control Panel, fonts are set to display at the "standard (100%) default".

And when it will be fix "freeze bug when save file" on Edge Chromium ? This bug appears randomly only when WB is running. And this is old bug.

Also, is there gonna be a fix for issues with "aero" (styles with transparency and blue in the title-bar) styles on windows 10, whenever trying to move the title-bar, a hardcore lag will happen. It happens occasionally though, I can't really explain why it happens, but have seen others have trouble with it on other forums. Most of the time, I just thought I would report on it. But I guess that could be something for WindowsBlinds 11

Hi Neil,

I appreciated your clue to my issue (#s 44-46, above).

However, it would really help to know where the "glassy explorer backgrounds" can be enabled/disabled.

Until I can try to resolve the disappearing file/folder name issue (while trying to edit either), the vast majority of skins are useless.

This was never an issue before I installed WB Beta 10.8.9.0, then had to uninstall, purge it and reinstall WB 10.87.

Please let me know where the "glassy explorer backgrounds" setting is located; I've been through every WB settings screen as well as through every Win 7 Control Panel Display and personalization screen.

Thank you.
