Same way a Country runs out. They quit shipping so the price will go up.

They don't need to stop shipping for the price to go up.

Oh and as far as the weather I have lived here before, hmm dont think there is a state I have not lived in. I do think that it is getting hotter out here as poeple move here.

Well, I just recently got home from waiting FOREVER to get gasoline! > I'm hot...tired..cranky and ripped off! It cost me 19.00 to fill HALF a tank of gasoline. I was in line for hours, in my car, in 106 degrees on the corner of 35th & Peoria (nearly the only gas station that I found that still had gas)!It normally costs my new Maxima about 22.00 to completely fill up, in Phoenix's already high gasoline prices, but today $ 19- to top my tank, which was maybe half a tank. This is ridiculous. I've wanted out of this horrid state for a while, this only feeds that even more.

oh yeah...where on earth in Phoenix do you find gasoline for 1.62?

Fry’s is a grocery store but also has its little gas station. Fry’s is just Kroger under a different name.

Heh! Gas prices in England would scare you guys to death! I think it's around £5 per gallon at the moment, that would be $7.95 in USD.

BoXXi, I think you should trade in your explorer on a Jetta TDI or something   I hope you don't drive much.  I'd have to move if gas costs that much here.  I drive 55 miles each way to work.  I commute with my hubby if at all possible, but even with that it costs over $250 a month for gas to get back and forth to work.  If it was $7.95/gallon I would go broke just driving! 

Hm I always wondered. Why does other counties (Non-USA) get those sky-high prices??

Is it lack of competation? Insanely high taxes? Too high price per barrel?

XX: The high prices here in England are all  TAX.  For every £10 of gas I put in my car, something like £9:30 goes to the government!! Same with cigarettes, a pack of Marlboro Lights is around £5 here, (well over $7) and the majority of that is tax also. Then we get V.A.T. on most things too, at 17.5%, kind of like your state tax. It stands for Value Added Tax, though there is little value in it to us! Our government has lots of other "stealth" taxes that they get us with too >

I've been to the Fry's pumps...not bad prices you're right. Haven't checked out sams club's gas yet. And Luke...well...hehe outta luck there.

You're kidding me Boxxi? Sssshhhh...don't say that too loud, don't want hubby to hear that, I keep begging him to move me to England He'll grab onto anything he can...

I see that there are a few other desert dwellers experiencing the Phoenix gas crunch. I just finished sitting in line for one hour and forty-five minutes to fill up. They're saying that within two weeks the main will be fixed and things will return to normal. I hope that they are right.

Wow that's a drag. My brother lives in Phoenix, I didn't realize it was that bad... I guess he can't get enough gas to drive to a phone

Funny but we just had the same excuse for a price jump here in Oregon (Portland at least). Our price went up 17 cents today because a pipeline failed in Anacordis WA. The local supermarket gas deal here is Fred Meyer which was $1.59 for regular and today it was $1.76. The name brand stuff is about $1.90 for regular.

A few years ago a freind of mine who worked for a gas wholesaler told me to fill up all my cars cause prices were gonna go up in about a week.  He said they were warned that there would be a huge price jump but don't tell anyone... 

A week later prices jumped about 20 cents a gallon right after an "accident" caused a gas refinery in Los Angeles to blow up. He said yep, that was it, and that plant wasn't even part of the supply chain, it was old and they needed to replace it.
