Man...Windows Updates!

Another problematic update for Windows...with a fix and no, iOS isn't in the cards, just yet.

KB4556799 is the problem causer this time.

"TechRadar reports several issues that people have flagged on Microsoft Community and answer posts, including the Blue Screen of Death, white screen flickering, system fonts being replaced, systems switching back to S-mode, and Outlook search issues. Windows Latest adds that some people have audio issues as well as the reappearance of the Temporary user profile bug"

There a fix...so if this happens to you, I hope this will be of help

Thanks for sending the link, Hank.

I had a BSOD this morning but not due to the latest Windows update.  No, it was because of an iffy network adapter driver that was installed by IOBit's Driver Booster.  All the other driver updates it installed were okay, so now I just have to remember to exclude that particular network adapter driver next time.... or then again I could just update it directly from Intel and see how it goes.

Other than that little hiccup, no ill-effects from the Windows update.... touch wood.

My home computer's fine, but my work computer, which pretty much has the same things installed on it but also has a bunch of Adobe Illustrator/Creative stuff as well and Trend Micro (my home computer uses Winzip Utilities for no better reason than I bought it, liked it and have had no failures with it so see no need to change), throws a screamy hissy fit whenever I launch either Firefox or Internet Explorer 11. Crash after crash after...

Microsoft Edge, of course, works fine. Except you can't stop animated GIFS and boys and girls, this GalCiv3 user totally despises animated GIFS. :) So my "Oh, gee! How convenient! Microsoft want me to use their latest and greatest (cough) bullshit (cough) browser and will crash my system if I don't!" paranoia kind of kicks in. Kind of because my home computer could care less what browser I use so I'm trying to figure out what's going on.

Anyway, haven't noticed things getting worse on my work computer since the latest Windows Update...Just stayed consistantly lousy since I started using it...
