Galactic Civilizations III v3.9 Hot Patch #2 (Released 9/18)

Hello,
We have a small patch to address late-game crashes and UI bug.

Please read below:

  • Fixed a crash where the planet modifiers weren't getting cleaned up properly after surrendering.
  • If another Civilization initiates a trade with you, the text won't be clipped on the more chatty Civilization (like the Mowlings).
  • Surrendering planets are destroyed instead of being changed to class zero. Fixed an MP desync related to the end-game score
  • Fixed a rare crash in the FOW system
  • The Ai no longer tries to manage destroyed worlds
  • Properly clean up planet modifiers after surrendering to prevent a crash.

This is fixed.

When you mean destroyed do you mean uncolonized?

Quoting admiralWillyWilber,

I have the same question.

I turned surrenders back on to test this and it looks like the entire planet is just gone instead of being a dead world.

From my experience, the planets destroyed don't exist anymore. No planet, no asteroids, just nothing.

That's what I'm seeing.  Just my opinion, but this is even worse than before.  I really don't like this new mechanic and for the life of me cannot figure out a good reason it was added.

This whole thing looks like someone got tired of reading complaints about how micro intensive fixing all the AI planets turned over to you was. Makes fighting a major war worthless because if you win you get nothing.

Oh, by the way, this problem was fixed not too long ago. You can now change the settings so that empires surrender all planets instead of destroying them. This is disabled by default, so you will need to poke around in the game options.

How does one get the patch?

It was released September 18th, so Steam should have downloaded it for you already.  When you start up the game, what version number do you see in the lower right corner of the main menu?

3.96

Then you should have the latest.
