Purchased Object Desktop, cannot activate any product

I purchased Object Desktop a few weeks ago, and used the Object Desktop Manager to download/install apps. It failed to activate products during install, and I had to start each app with a "30-Day Trial". Multiple attempts to activate the product with email+product key and email+password failed. I've seen the "-205" error, and changed my computer name to match the forum topics about this issue, restarted my machine and it did not work at all.

I've renamed my machine according to this forum topic: https://forums.stardock.com/486311/Accounts-and-Activation-Support-FAQ#activationerror

When I use my stardock email/password, I get an error that says, "X is not associated with this account". When I log into my Stardock.com account, I do not see specific products registered, but I do have the "Object Desktop" product key, and a subscription for it that has an expiration in 352 days.

When I use my Object Desktop product key for an individual product activation (for example, Fences 3.0), I get the error that says, "Unable to activate X. Please try again or contact support. (Error Code: -205)". Where X is the product name, e.g. "Fences".

Additionally, the Object Desktop Manager does not have any of my active subscription information in it; even though I am logged into the same Stardock account, and when I visit the Stardock.com website, I see that my subscription has 352 days remaining.

See here: https://forums.stardock.com/486311/accounts-and-activation-support-faq#activationerror

Also, just download the products directly from your account and don't use ODM.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Make sure your Stardock Account and your purchase are using the same email address.

if not you can merge different emails together https://forums.stardock.com/486311/accounts-and-activation-support-faq#mergeaccounts

if emails were the same Try this link for product and key  https://forums.stardock.com/484254/getting-your-products-and-keys

Best to always download apps and your keys from your Stardock Account https://store.stardock.com/myaccount

Pretty sure they are. How would I check? When I log into stardock.com and look at my downloads, I see a "Object Desktop" subscription with 352 days remaining. I presume that means that this is the right account, and the right email/password combo.

Yup, I downloaded Object Desktop Manager from there. Is that not the right thing to do? Should I download individual product download files? Do I uninstall Object Desktop Manager first? Should I uninstall all products I have installed as well, and try again?

I only have an Object Desktop key, not an individual product key--that should work, correct? I should be able to use the Object Desktop activation key to activate individual products, such as Fences 3.0, correct? If not, how is it supposed to work?

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Your Object Desktop Key is good to use for all the included apps ;

If you ordered with the same email as your Stardock Account email

You can use your OD key to activate the included apps.

If you used PayPal to order that may be a different email ? than what you used for the Stardock Account.

If you ordered with the same email as your Stardock Account email you can you can use your OD key to activate the included apps.

As I said in my first post, that does not work. I am using the same email as the one I use to log into stardock.com, which shows a subscription to Object Desktop that expires in 352 days. I use *that key* and *that email* to try and activate a product, and it does not work.

Again, when I use email + product key, I get the "error -205", which apparently happens when a computer has non-western characters in its name. I changed my computer name, and restarted my machine. I get the same "error -205" every single time.

When I try with my stardock email + password, I get the error that "X is not associated with this account".

So, again, please, what else could be wrong?

- I'm using the correct email/password
- I'm using the correct activation key
- I changed the name of my computer to try and fix error -205

What else is there?

Here is a list of my downloads. You will see that I must have downloaded Object Desktop a long while in the past, because that subscription is expired, but I have a new subscription with 352 days left.

This may not be helpful, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

Click on the View Individual Downloads under Object Desktop Manager and you should get the ObjectDesktop Apps.

Install the individual apps from there.

Hello,

Please refer back to Reply #1 that is right , don't use ODM.

So, is ODM just all-around terrible? Why does Stardock continue to request users to use it for downloading their products?

Did clicking on View Individual Downloads work for you?

@Hankers: I'm uninstalling all apps and ODM first, restarting my machine, then will try downloading/installing individual installers. I will see if that changes anything.

Alright, I uninstalled all Stardock apps, uninstalled Object Desktop Manager, restarted my machine.

Then I downloaded Fences 3.0 from my Stardock account page.

I installed it, and then entered my email + product key, and I got the "error -205" AGAIN!. This is not a solution.

This is pretty frustrating, and the fact that it has been 2+ weeks of me having this issue after buying this software, is more than silly. It seems like Stardock is making activating a product too hard for reasons unknown, and the solution from the community are things like, "Don't do what Stardock says, do this other thing" or "Oh yeah, rename your computer because of really odd reasons and bugs in the activation software."

I mean... Really?

Sorry that didn't work for you. Unfortunately it is the weekend and support won't be back until Monday to look into this for you.

I'm sure one of the Stardock Community Assistants will forward this on to Support.

Hello,

It was forwarded to the Support Desk,

Thanks for trying Hankers .

Hello,

Still trying to help you ,

Reading your posts above it's not clear to me how you paid for your product.

Here is another thing that could cause an issue with your account .

If you paid with PayPal you didn't say and your PayPal address is also different

than your Stardock Account address that could cause a problem.

If this is the case could you "PM " me with your PayPal and Stardock

address ( don't post in the forum ) so I can have that checked , please.

If your 2 addresses are the same let me know here.

Thanks, @AzDude.

What am I supposed to do there? Stardock account info is fine and up to date. You mentioned that if Paypal had a physical address that differed from Stardock, there could be an issue... What is that issue? Paypal had an old address, Stardock has the "right" and current address. I updated Paypal, but since the purchase went through weeks ago using the "old" address on Paypal, I'm sure it does not make any difference right now.

Is the current solution to wait for support to get back with me sometime this week? Thanks!

There was an issue with the key type you had - we have fixed it.  Try to activate with your OD key again please.
