Speed Limit Event?

Does this event EVER end?  I just realized that here I am, I've already research technological victory (the victory may be disabled, but the bonuses apparently are not!), I've almost finished researching the entire tech tree (plus I traded for some I can't normally get), I own over half of an Immense galaxy... and I'm still stuck at 5 moves tops.  I literally, at this point, have no need to even use engines anymore.  I have enough bonuses to use ships with no engines, and move at 7 spaces, if it wasn't for this random event.  It takes somewhere around 40 turns to cross my own empire.  When you produce stuff as fast as I do, that's a long 40 turns.  XD

Am I just doomed to never go beyond 5 spaces a turn so long as I continue this game, then?  'Cus, this is getting kinda old...

(Not to mention the prevalence of free super-powered ships going to losing factions has convinced me that all events need to be turned off... PERMANENTLY.)

No response?  Well, for now, I'm working under the assumption it won't end.  None of the forum threads I found had a definitive answer, only that people didn't like the event, or that they found a bug in it.  *shrug*

On the bright side, you can put a LOT more weapons and defenses on a vessel with no engines! :grin:

The speed limit event never ends. Most people will load an autosave if they get it. They rather lose a little bit of progress than have slow ships, especially on a big map.

Ah, I would have thought that the random setting were via a seed, so as to prevent that.  Good to know, although I'm way past being able to use the autosave this time around.  In the meantime, I guess engine-less ship designs are the way to go lol.
