Political Discussion Online II

Gone are the dayz

Some may say I need a psychiatrist, but I've always enjoyed politics and the topics involved. With that being said, wading into the sewage of political discourse these days is an exercise in madness. Gone are the days when such discourse could lead to anything remotely resembling a civilized exchange of ideas. We've ushered in a new era where most people who have such interest are more out to prove that they are right, and any person with any disagreement, or objection to any policy and idea they believe is either antisemitic, a sex maniac, stupid, bigoted, homophobic, or much worse. In such an environment where people are so dug in trying to prove they are right even when empirical evidence proves that they are wrong, it becomes an exercise in futility to attempt any conversion at all. It can be somewhat funny to see the bizarre reactions and silly name calling when the argument is lost, but that is only a temporary giggle and not a really a lasting enjoyment.

I saw this in a cartoon.

Broken promises:

If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor.

If you like your health insurance you can keep your health insurance.

If you vote for us we will repeal Obamacare.

The swamp is in charge.  Has been for a century.  We haven't had a Federal 'government of the people' for a long time and won't again during my lifetime.

Demblicans:

If McCain or Romney had blasted the Dems like they are

blasting President Trump maybe one of them would

have won the election.

It's OK, Anthony.  I'm in the 'can't hurt me now' phase of my life, when politics is just endlessly absurd entertainment, so I just work & play golf when I can.

I was 20 years old and had a production job, one of the

bosses said I was the highest producer.

They laid me off because they could hire minorities for

less because the government would pay part of their wage.

That is what they told me when they laid me off.

That was about 33 years ago in the USA.

I have had 14 jobs.

Now sarcasm.

It is a privilege.
