adbextfc.dll vs HerdProtect

is this dll really PUP-sleezeware?

Herd protect flagged this dll an adware/pup suggesting I delete it.  First time this dll cam up in herd-protect. Two other items come up inclusinve (as in many scans before, and are definitely OK.  Did web search on this - and totally confused.  Any suggestions?

I'd go with reasoncoresecurity's take & let it be quarantined or deleted.  As a matter of curiosity, did you ever knowingly install AccelerateTab?

no never knowingly installed accelerator tab - never heard of it before.  BTW, I deleted the dll.  Whats the connection with accelerator tab?

The reasoncoresecurity article mentioned the .dll was associated with AccelerateTab, presumably a browser plugin or extension.

I don't think you'll miss the .dll.

The AccelerateTab was an add-on that got installed silently along with the .dll. I encountered something similar a while back. That's what prompted me to start using ASC's uninstaller because doing it under programs and features would not take it out. There's no 'op out' for AccelerateTab. You don't know its being installed.

well, I have noted that the group of PUP/sleezeware (about 15) that keeps reinstalling themselves don't now that the dll is gone.

Do this. Go to Advanced Systems Care .com

Download version 8, its free. It comes with an uninstaller that's very powerful. It will list every program installed on your machine including ones you might not know about. Also it will list all the extensions, toolbars etc. in whatever browser(s) you use. You can uninstall whichever ones you don't want or need plus it does a search for any left over files and will delete them. I have yet to encounter any it cannot take out.

it changes to add the '#!/ and the webpage is empty...

 (I'm looking for a new wireless internet provider, as clear-wire is ending all services because its been purchased by sprint
