Exclusive Launch Weekend Ship Parts Coming

As a bonus to all of our Founders, Early Access players, and early launch weekend adopters, we’re giving away a free pack of unique ship parts to use in customizing your starships.

The Launch Weekend Ship Parts DLC is not and never will be for sale, and will be automatically added to your Steam account when it becomes available on launch day, May 14.

Everyone who has already bought Galactic Civilizations III, or who purchases through May 17, will receive the ship parts as a token of Stardock’s appreciation.

Thanks for your support, and happy conquering!

It's like buying a LEGO set only to discover it doesn't have all the pieces.

No, it's like not buying a Lego set, coming back to the store later and finding that the set is no longer available. Which happens all the time with Lego, as all their 'collector's edition' sets - as well as things like the Simpsons minifigs - are time limited. ;)

I've spent endless hours in the designer and can tell you exactly what will happen if you share a design with a founder part.  It will work for everyone, if you try to edit the ship it will crash the game.  That is what happened with each beta that they changed part names or weapons.

There might not be many of them (seven in total), but now that I actually have a chance to play with them, they're kinda neat. :)

Not gonna lie.  I think my early favorite is the GC III logo. :D  Until we get actual Faction Specific logos in, I think I might get heavy use out of that one.  Did a quick addition to my custom Cargo Survey Ships, and it looks like this at the base level without anything else attached:

(Yes, I intentionally have it designed to look like a locust on the main map. It just gives me a little thrill to see a swarm of them all over the map. :D)

I think my second favorite one is the "hooded engine".  Simply because it is so different from everything else. :)

Nice ship! :)

but I have one suggestion for Stardock: Do you think it's possible to add a new filter/category to show all dlc parts in the editor for any race?

Just a note that this promotion has ended. :)

Yes I noticed as the dlc parts have been added to the human category, which means if you aren't playing humans you have to enable all parts to find them.

Quoting Frank_Aetheria,

Have the custom parts been released yet? I can't see them in my DLC tab (restarted multiple times). Just checking to make sure all is right on my end (don't want to sound impatient). Thanks for the replies!

Not sure if they'll show up as a "DLC". I want to say they'll be packaged in the release and the removed or blocked from use in code. Since in multiplayer those who have them can use them, and those who don't can see them but not use them in their creator. I could be wrong though.

they have said that if the host (in multiplayer has a dlc) that others will have it to for that game. im not sure if this means that you will have access to the parts but im pretty sure that you would given what they said in the live stream. (basically that if the host has dlc everyone else does 2 for that game)

which imo is the only way to make games with alot of dlc viable in multiplayer otherwise you split the commuinty with every release of dlc.

It's good to be an Elite Founder.

Nice ship! :)

Thanks.  :)  I'm kinda dissatisfied with it though.  Doesn't look quite as good as the version I made for GC II.  Too clunky and busy.  The GC II I made was simpler and more streamlined.

As for the GC III one, I made it very early in the beta process as a stop gap and never got around to perfecting it.  I actually have a lot of weird/fun ships I designed over at GC II that I would love to import over.

THAT would be a great DLC or expansion feature if you ask me. :)  HINT HINT HINT. :p

Or at least the ability to import the GC II parts list.  That way I can recreate some of the funky Yor and Iconian ships I made over there.  Organic/crazy parts that are vaguely Lovecraftian FTW!  B)

One of these days I'm gonna fire up some of my saves from GC II and try to recreate as many of the whacked out designs I made over there

Wow, thanks for those extra parts :)  I'm not a founder, but bought the game some months ago. Now I only wish I had more time to play... ;)

Wow, I missed out on that one. I only knew about the game by Angry Joes review a day ago. Anyway, I actually do hope it will remain exclusive. Too many times I`ve seen games say something is exclusive then 6 months later, everyone else ccan have it as well. That`s why I never pr-ordered, I would just wait.
