Same problem, all the functions are there, but you just can't see them, just the background grid. I'm crashing a lot more too. Can we run GC3 off line without all the steam crap?

I've had the same issue with the star base screen.Tried a few things suggested here, to no avail. Finally I tried opting out and then back in of the beta. Steam promptly re-downloaded the .1 patch. Loaded up the game went to load one of my saves and was told they were now incompatible. So I started a new game and rushed a star base and BINGO! star-base screen displayed as it should!

##Edit## seems I was mistaken and steam just hadn't updated to the latest .1 version yet.

That is great - as I noted in another post while I was unable to play on my laptop - it works fine on my desktop for some reason.  Glad bugs are being worked out before launch - Beta 6.0 and 6.1 seems to work much better (more stable) than Beta 5 I started playing earlier this week.

Caus' at the moment, I am unable to play the game unfortunately..because I need my starbases and the game hangs in 'upgrade starbase' for next turn

Is there a short version as to what was wrong;  i.e. why we had it and you did not?

I seem to have the same issue.  The star base screen has the background in front of the buttons.  They are still there and can be functioned but good luck on finding the correct one.  FYI I play on a Surface Pro.  If the game gets sluggish I just play in strategic view.  Showing my age here but I grew up playing games with chits and hex maps (Squad Leader, Star Fleet Battles, etc...) so the strategic view is where I spend most of my time anyway.  This is a great game!

Edit:  I turned on all of the graphics options as I have been playing low res (Surface Pro) and low and behold...  Star Base build options; yea!  I had suspected a graphics issue so I did the opposite of what I had been doing.   My tablet is slower in game but working again.  With the shared memory for graphics  suspect that late game will be painful using my tablet.
